“Limited eateries make this a popular place despite the service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2006

After a long day at the beach we were looking for some good Italian food. When we got to Pizzetta it was fairly mobbed, although there were a few small empty tables. The place was total chaos. They also do pick-up, take-out pizza so there was total confusion with many people waiting to pick up their pizza's and some people trying to get tables. There was not clear place to wait or even ask for a table. We waited at what appeared to be the hostess counter where there was not hostess until finally someone handling the takeout said they were to busy to deal with us. We then decided maybe we would just do take-out. No such luck, they were still to busy (we were told) to even take an order. While we were waiting to try to make an order we watched several people try to pick up their pizzas, open the box, find out it wasn't what they ordered and then have to deal with it. We finally ended up going to the mexican place down the street. The food looked good but the service was terrible. The place might not be so bad when they are not mobbed during prime time. If you want to try this place, I suggest having a backup plan. There is another Italian place (Brick Oven Pizza) about 15 minutes west on the main highway.

“worst "aloha spirit" on the islands”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2005

After a long day of hiking and site seeing, we were looking forward to some good italian food, but what we got instead put a big damper on our trip. First, when we arrived the restaurant was slow, with only 3-4 tables occupied, but yet all the wait staff walked by and never once looked at us, and we waited a good 3 minutes before being acknowledged. Next, for being slow, our waiter Jeff hardly came around. Then, when our pizza came, the young waiter knocked our babies stroller trying to deliver the pizza over it-when he could have easily stepped two feet to his right to deliver, and in doing so it woke the baby. Now I know this is can happen, but what was dissapointing was the following rude behaviour. First, he just walked away without an apology, then Jeff saw that we were upset, and instead of being polite (remember customer service?) he said to us "that we were in a public place", like it was our fault for bringing the baby. then we decided to just leave, and the manager came over and said to us "do you know the meaning of the word 'tolerance'?" I was amazed at how rude this group was, then to top it off jeff again asked my wife "did you have a bad day?" which she replied yes, he then said back "good, I hope you have a bad day tomorrow too!"
please, do not patronize this restaurant and pass on this protest, there are so many better restaurants on the island anyway (brick oven pizza is much better), oh and the food....chicken in the pasta was rubbery, pizza sauce was just canned tomato sauce, not much flavor.

“Save your money and get a pizza elsewhere”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2005

[This review discusses the take-out service only.]

My family and I elected to get two pizzas for take-out, as we were tired of eating out and wanted to enjoy a meal in our condo. It was Memorial Day weekend (last weekend in May), and the place was pretty busy, with quite a wait for the pizza - we were told to come back in fifteen minutes, but it ended up taking almost an hour.

My wife and I were treated to the sight of the teenaged staff screaming at each other while we waited, such a delight. A fellow customer waiting with us remarked, "All the attitude of a New York pizza place, without the efficiency."

The pizzas (a large pepperoni and a large combination veggie/meat) were good, but a bit pricey for $50.00. As mentioned below, a frozen pizza from the Big Save supermarket down the street would have been a better value.

“Stick with the chains”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2005

We had a somewhat disappointing fist meal in Kauai. Pizzetta was offered as a good quick meal choice by the Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy activity planner in the town of Koloa. Instead, the pizza was dry (little sauce at all), the cheese was very salty, the breadsticks were burnt and the price was outlandish (~$30 for an order of breadsticks and a twleve inch one topping pizza). On top of this the service was slow (it took 15 minutes to get water after we sat down near the kitchen entrance), and lacked the Aloha that the rest of the island has offered.

Our pitcher of pop was flat and they said "that's how it is in Hawaii". They were wrong, and this restraunt is a similarly wrong choice when in the town of Koloa.
Drive three blocks to Big Save and buy a DiGiorno.
