“Great Meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2014 via mobile

La Spezia is tucked away in Koloa Old Town. We had a great meal: the food was delicious and the service efficient and friendly. Prices were reasonable. Well worth a visit.

“Great Italian option in the poipu/koloa area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2014

We chanced upon this gem after attempting vainly to reserve at other restaurants in the Poipu area. Walked in and was seated promptly.

The restaurant itself is small, homely and looks & feels 'Italian'. Very attentive and knowledgeable staff that seemed to enjoy entertaining guests.

The appetizer of olive encrusted bread was probably the best I've ever had anywhere.

Dinner options we tried included the garlic flavored gnochi, shrimp and sea food pasta. All very good.

So overall great value for the money, in a nice old-town neighborhood. We liked the place so much, we went there twice for dinner (which we rarely do when travelling!)

“Great dinning experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2014

This is a beautifully decorated place with delicious food and top notch service! Ordered the pancetta pasta and it was delicious. Also had the antipasti for 4 and it was good portion with different varieties of great food. Service was great, waiter knew the menu. They even knew to switch out wine glasses when we ordered different bottle of wine. Overall one of best dinning experiences. Highly recommend.

“Great food, wine, and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2014

The food was delicious, reasonably priced, and had nice presentation. My sister had hanger steak with Gorgonzola polenta and asparagus. The meal was well prepared with the steak being extremely tender. I had the pan roasted chicken with olive oil mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. Everything on my plate was amazing and prepared perfectly--the chicken very moist. Their wine menu is huge. Our server was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely return to this restaurant.

“Unexpected & fantastic find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

We were looking for a better place to buy some wine to have in our hotel room than the local Big Save Market and found The Wine Shop in Old Koloa Town. Then we noticed a little restaurant next door called La Spezia Restaurant and Wine Bar, and decided to try it one night while on our trip. We were certainly glad that we did - our waiter was Collin and he was fantastic. We discussed what kind of wines that we liked, mostly New World wines, and he suggested an Old World wine from Spain that he thought we'd enjoy - and it was wonderful! We had the antipasti plate for two, then each had an entree - everything was wonderful, and not what I'd expected to find in a local Italian restaurant in a small little town on Kauai. They use locally sourced ingredients whenever possible and the food was wonderful, I don't think you can go wrong. The small restaurant isn't fancy - you can dress up or just come in your shorts as many of the locals do. There is a small bar area that has a few tables if you'd like to have a drink while waiting for a table and the dining room is pretty small. They will take reservations if you have 6 or more in your party. Probably not the best choice of restaurants for children, but if you enjoy wine and wonderful food, certainly give this a try. We spent about $120 for dinner and that included a bottle of wine, shared appetizer, entrees and a shared dessert - reasonable for Hawaii considering the bottle of wine and we thought it was the best food we had the entire time in Kauai.
