I have stayed at precisely two Bed & Breakfasts in my life. After the first time, the weekend I proposed to my (now) wife, we decided that we were not Bed & Breakfast people... our host at that place was just a strange guy, the conversation was awkward, and he liked to use the word "snuggle." Not our thing.
But when we decided on Kauai for our honeymoon, we knew that B&B was the way to go for an affordable trip, and we are very glad we made that decision! The hosts at Hale Puka 'Ana were excellent - they gave us just the right amount of attention, and never used the word "snuggle." They also had all kinds of helpful information, directions, and supplies like coolers, umbrellas, beach chairs to lend out - all the kind of stuff that it would be a real pain to drag to Hawai'i. The breakfast was served during a large time-window so we didn't have to get up super early. And for all that, the price was still great.
As for location: let's face it, if you go to Kauai, you're going to rent a car, no two ways about it. So, while it's a bit of a drive to the Poipu beaches and snorkeling and restaurants, it doesn't take away from the experience. Kekaha itself is the best spot weather-wise on the island - no rain the entire time, and moderate temperature, too. In terms of things to do over there, it is the closest town to Polihale beach, which is exactly what you hope for on a trip to Kauai - an empty beach with miles of white sand, and Waimea canyon, with dozens of beautiful hiking trails.
All in all, the perfect honeymoon.
