My husband and I just returned from our 7 day stay on Kauai at the Aloha Beach Resort in Kapa'a. I must say that we purposely booked a room here because the price could not be beat and we are pretty poor =). The hotel is conveniently located about 2 walking minutes from Lydgate Park so that was wonderful. I am new snorkeler so, Lydgate was wonderful due to the rock enclosed beach they have there.

As for the hotel, I had very low expectations due to the price, but I was quite impressed. It is very close to the airport (about 5 miles) and the grounds were maintained quite well. We were upgraded to a cottage (which was lovely). The cottage has a bedroom, a living area, a lanai, and a small kitchenette-type area (fridge and Microwave). Overall the room was dated (Fabulous for 1970) but who really cares? All we wanted was a place to sleep and shower and we got a little more than just that.

Overall, I am very happy with the resort. If I had to complain about anything, I would say the box AC unit was SUPER LOUD (like a generator in your room at night) and the bed’s were crazy hard! OUCH. But, like I said, if you are planning to come to Kauai on a budget, STAY HERE! The staff is friendly, the beach is RIGHT THERE, what more do you really need?

Oh yeah, don’t eat at the hotel restaurant. The food is horrible and expensive. Go down into the Coconut Market place (North on Kuhio Hwy and on your right) or into Kapaa and eat there. The restaurant at the hotel is pretty much only good for drinks.

  • Liked — It was super close to Lydgate Park
  • Disliked — Food, Beds, AC units

I had been originally looking to book with Islander on the Beach, but when I called ResortQuest to book, they told me about a car/hotel combo deal for the Aloha Beach Hotel. When we got to Aloha Beach Hotel it was nothing that I expected, the room was dark and dank, though nicely furnished, the carpet was damp and slightly moldy, the windows were FILTHY and the garden was screaming for maintenance. Also, the views from the rooms left much to be desired. We immediately drove to check out the accomodations at Islander on the Beach. Islander's front desk gave us a key for the same "level" room - Ocean View and we were sold! I called ResortQuest Corporate offices to complain about the accomodations at Aloha Beach and they immediately switched us to the Islander. When we got to Islander with our bags we found we had been upgraded to Ocean Front for the same deal we had booked with Aloha Beach Hotel. ResortQuest was fabulous. I would recommend booking directly because of the service you receive. (We also stayed on Maui at the ResortQuest Papakea and were automatically upgraded to Ocean Front for free). The next time and every time I return to Kauai, I'll be staying at the Islander on the Beach.

My sister got married in kauai and my parents, my boyfriend and I all stayed at the aloha beach resort. It was nice, it was not infested or gross like the other reviews say, im sure there are some problems, but not like I read, im sure the many people who stay here dont have to complain so they dont review. Anyways, We had 4 people in one room and there was actually only one bed booked (travel agents error) but there was actually a sofa in the room that turned into a bed and everything worked out fine. The inside of the room had a tv, fridgerator, sofa, king size bed, and sliding door which lead to a beautiful pond and if you continue to walk you will find very close a beach thats safe for swimming (only in the part surrounded by rocks) you can rent snorkle gear or if you get it early enough from the hotel and go there rather than pay a lot for a tour. there is a park close by, and the people there are very helpful usually. there is a desk inside hotel if you want to go explore the island you can ask them for help they will book your tour or activity. I suggest doing it before you go though, there is a fun zodiac boat we went on. But I definitley suggest doing the helecoptor tour of the island, make sure you dont get sick easily though, two people out of our 7 on the copter vomitted. or if you cant afford the tour just take a drive up to the canyon. eggberts is a very inexpensive breakfast place up the road from the hotel that is excellent and there is a shopping center with all the touristy stuff you like to buy. dani's is also a good place down by lihue. My only complaints about the hotel would be it took too long for me to get my towel i called for, that could be the only bad thing. I wouldn't expect too much its like a best western with a wonderful view. AIR CONDITIONER WORKED GREAT.

.I read several reviews from Trip Advisor prior to booking a trip to Kauai. The reviews seemed ok so I went ahead and booked a stay at the Resort Quest Aloha Beach. Let’s start with roaches in the bathroom and probably the room itself. The hot water did not work for three days out of our trip. Even have the flyer the shoved under our door telling us they were turning off the water for one of the days for repairs. On the other two days without hot water, I had to call the front desk and was later told the water heater needed to be turned on. Hope you like baths because the tub does not drain. The room itself was simply nasty. Do not purchase the in room internet for $10.00 per day. It only works about a quarter of the time. I looked again at the reviews on Trip Advisor, and see several good reviews. I cannot understand this!!!!! This place is a hole and very unhealthily. Best of luck to anyone staying at this dump. Don’t get ripped off like I did. Anyone who wishes to contact me with questions about this hotel, email me at scottmcreynolds@charter.net

We stayed at the Aloha Beach from September 5 to 15 2008. This was our second time staying at this hotel. We actually got married on the hotel grounds the first time.

On this last visit we found that the rooms had been updated and the noisy nightclub was gone. The hotel is very conveniently located next to Lydgate Park which is the safest beach to swim at. My wife enjoyed the chickens and geckos that ran around. This is not a luxury resort, but it is clean, conveniently located, and reasonably priced.

At one point there was a problem with the a/c in our room but the staff moved us to a different room without any problem.

We did notice that the elevator was broken for our entire stay, not an inconvenience to us, but it would have been for others staying on the top floor. Also the Koi Fish are all gone from the fish ponds but it looked like they were working on the grounds when we were there, hopefully they will replace the fish.

Resort Quest has recently purchased the hotel which means that it will likely improve further. When we return to Kauai we will definately consider staying here again.
