My sister got married in kauai and my parents, my boyfriend and I all stayed at the aloha beach resort. It was nice, it was not infested or gross like the other reviews say, im sure there are some problems, but not like I read, im sure the many people who stay here dont have to complain so they dont review. Anyways, We had 4 people in one room and there was actually only one bed booked (travel agents error) but there was actually a sofa in the room that turned into a bed and everything worked out fine. The inside of the room had a tv, fridgerator, sofa, king size bed, and sliding door which lead to a beautiful pond and if you continue to walk you will find very close a beach thats safe for swimming (only in the part surrounded by rocks) you can rent snorkle gear or if you get it early enough from the hotel and go there rather than pay a lot for a tour. there is a park close by, and the people there are very helpful usually. there is a desk inside hotel if you want to go explore the island you can ask them for help they will book your tour or activity. I suggest doing it before you go though, there is a fun zodiac boat we went on. But I definitley suggest doing the helecoptor tour of the island, make sure you dont get sick easily though, two people out of our 7 on the copter vomitted. or if you cant afford the tour just take a drive up to the canyon. eggberts is a very inexpensive breakfast place up the road from the hotel that is excellent and there is a shopping center with all the touristy stuff you like to buy. dani's is also a good place down by lihue. My only complaints about the hotel would be it took too long for me to get my towel i called for, that could be the only bad thing. I wouldn't expect too much its like a best western with a wonderful view. AIR CONDITIONER WORKED GREAT.

.I read several reviews from Trip Advisor prior to booking a trip to Kauai. The reviews seemed ok so I went ahead and booked a stay at the Resort Quest Aloha Beach. Let’s start with roaches in the bathroom and probably the room itself. The hot water did not work for three days out of our trip. Even have the flyer the shoved under our door telling us they were turning off the water for one of the days for repairs. On the other two days without hot water, I had to call the front desk and was later told the water heater needed to be turned on. Hope you like baths because the tub does not drain. The room itself was simply nasty. Do not purchase the in room internet for $10.00 per day. It only works about a quarter of the time. I looked again at the reviews on Trip Advisor, and see several good reviews. I cannot understand this!!!!! This place is a hole and very unhealthily. Best of luck to anyone staying at this dump. Don’t get ripped off like I did. Anyone who wishes to contact me with questions about this hotel, email me at scottmcreynolds@charter.net

We stayed at the Aloha Beach from September 5 to 15 2008. This was our second time staying at this hotel. We actually got married on the hotel grounds the first time.

On this last visit we found that the rooms had been updated and the noisy nightclub was gone. The hotel is very conveniently located next to Lydgate Park which is the safest beach to swim at. My wife enjoyed the chickens and geckos that ran around. This is not a luxury resort, but it is clean, conveniently located, and reasonably priced.

At one point there was a problem with the a/c in our room but the staff moved us to a different room without any problem.

We did notice that the elevator was broken for our entire stay, not an inconvenience to us, but it would have been for others staying on the top floor. Also the Koi Fish are all gone from the fish ponds but it looked like they were working on the grounds when we were there, hopefully they will replace the fish.

Resort Quest has recently purchased the hotel which means that it will likely improve further. When we return to Kauai we will definately consider staying here again.

I grew up in Maui and so I get sentimental when it comes to the islands. The Aloha Beach resort had a soft, breezy, Hawaii of yesterday feel.
The location is perfect for exploring the islands. You are right in between the North Shore (which is gorgous and calm in the summer months) and the Southern side which hosts Poipu beach and Waimea canyon. You are near Coconut Shopping plaza which has lots of shopping and restaurants.
We paid $120.00 for an amazing oceanfront view and breakfast in the morning. So the price is unbeatable!!!!
We loved waking up before the sun came up and walking the grounds. The Grounds are beautiful with warm breezes and crowing roosters. Rain and rainbows in the morning and sunshine and snorkeling at Lydegate beach in the afternoons.
Our room was clean, large and we even had a small bath which was perfect for bathing our 2 1/2 year old and 6 month old.
The room was big enough for a pack in play and we still had a couch area with 2 double beds.
MAKE SURE YOU GET A DOWNSTAIRS UNIT IF YOU WANT A BALCONY. There are no balconies (Lanais) in this hotel. I suggest the downstairs rooms that start with 21## or 11##. I read about those rooms on one of these reviews and requested it and got a beautiful room with view. (Thanks trip advisor)
The breakfast was good. Great assortment for kids and adults that aren't really picky. It's not gourmet, but it's really good if it's included in the price of your room. The view in the morning from the dining room is fantastic.
The two pools are basic, but who needs a pool when you have the calmest protected ocean right there.
We went all over the island and the best assortment we found of fish was at the beach right there in the morning.
YOu have to go to the North shore and check out Tunnels beach. The setting is like a movie set. The snorkeling is supposed to be amazing, but we didn't really see much that day.
We are glad we went to Waimea canyon, but if you can only go in one direction...go NORTH. We rented a house there for a week with family and it was incredible, but that is for a different review.
This hotel is not 5 star, there are no pool waitress and waterslides. But it is the perfect 3 star resort with the location and grounds of a 4 star. You can order your drink at the bar right next to the pool and enjoy unspolied, natural views of Hawaii, the way that it was.
Don't get me wrong, I love to stay at the Four Seasons any chance I can, but this Hotel is great too in a totally different way. With the money we saved we ran up a $200.00 tab at the Princeville Pool bar and hung out at their pool one day when we wanted the fancy resort scene.
I loved coming back to our little Aloha Beach resort every day and sitting out on the grass with our Mai Tais and listening to the waves crash while our girls slept soundly in their beds.
Wish I could be there now....
The GOOD: Location, price, grounds, beach, the park, rainbows and our view. Perfect for kids-Pools, best kiddie beach, huge park adjacent to the hotel, roosters running all around. Kid friendly staff. Big rooms. Grass in front of ground floor rooms for running around. Teach kids to snorkle on the protected beach.
The Bad: Elevators were broken-but we were on the ground floor. If you want to sleep in close your windows or the roosters will wake you up. Couldn't hear a thing with our door closed though.

My wife and I stayed for a week and didn't want to leave.

The good:
The location is perfect, right smack in the middle of the eastern edge of Kauai, with everything you could possibly need (local food, shopping, etc.) in nearby Kapaa or Lihue. Take a drive north and south to see the sights, should take you an hour/hour and a half in either direction to see everything. Our room was long and spacious and clean, with a view of the ocean (upgraded). The dining area had a great view of the grounds and the ocean, and the food was good though a bit pricey. The staff seemed to enjoy working in a tropical paradise and it showed, as they were very courteous and (mostly) helpful. It takes a minute to walk to the beautiful and partially protected beach. The beach was clean, locals and visitors alike enjoyed themselves, and a lifeguard tower was on site. The highlight of our stay at the Aloha was the luau located at their sister site near the Coconut Market area. It was very entertaining and unforgettable, as well as affordable.

The bad:
My only complaint was that the shower stall and toilet were in a small room seperated by a door from the sink. The sink area had plenty of space, however the shower stall suffered from a lack of.

Note:
Traffic during the day can be a bit confusing and congested, often aggressive, and the roads are a bit too narrow for big American cars (lots of Mustangs). Food and gas in the surrounding towns is pretty expensive, but this is expected for a tropical island vacation getaway. Many of the local businesses seem to close early, so get what you need before dark. Also, there is alot of live poultry traipsing about on this island, and they are everywhere (the grounds of the Aloha and the beach were no exception), however this seems to be an accepted phenomenon on Kauai.

My wife and I came to Kauai to relax and have fun. We took our days one at a time and were spontaneous with our activities. Our stay at the Aloha was positive and enjoyable, and it served to enhace our vacation (another week and an extra $1000 would have been lovely).
