“What a view!!!”

ResortQuest Kauai Beach at Makaiwa

Jun 16, 2008

We stayed at this hotel 6/5/08 through 6/12/08. The hotel is absolutely beautiful with an ocean view from almost every angle. The hotel personnel was very friendly and helpful and the rooms are exactly like the picture so what you see is what you get. We were very pleased with our stay and will definitely stay at this hotel again on our next visit to Kauai!

“Great value! Will definitely return”

ResortQuest Kauai Beach at Makaiwa

Jun 15, 2008

We read reviews after booking a room and were a little concerned with some of the negative reviews. We did not experience any of the things people complained about. The staff were all very nice. I had read that the fourth floor rooms were the best, but the front desk staff recommended another room on the third. It was fabulous! We had an oceanview, corner room so we also got to see the mountain side. The room was clean and the the rest of the hotel was well maintained. We enjoyed their Happy Hour in the bar and in particular the Friday Happy hour with pou pou (sic) appetizers. We never had a problem parking & if we needed to take items up to the room and not park, the valet was available for parking. The pool was clean and the grounds were also well maintained. The day before we left, I got a massage on the beach that was heavenly! I only wish I had gotten one sooner, so that I could have gotten in at least another one. His name is Chris & you can book him through the spa in the hotel. He truly is gifted.

We ate breakfast everyday (except for the last day) at Eggberts. It was delicious. You really should try their macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup! Yummm! We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant the last day. They have a buffett or you can order from the menu. We had the buffett and it was very good. The little Vietnamese restaurant in the Safeway shopping center has excellent pho. We had dinner at the Beach House in Poipou Beach and it was very good.

The hotel is centrally located with shopping areas close by. If you are interested in a Luau, check out the one at the Smith Family. The food was good and the show afterward was also very good. If you are there during the week, don't miss the farmers market in Hanalei. We got the most delicious pineapple I have ever tasted there. We also picked up a papaya & a beautiful inexpensive plumeria lei.

We will return to this hotel and will recommend it to friends also. There wasn't a negative experience the whole stay! It was wonderful.

“Nice Central Location”

Good central location on the island. I had trouble with my directions from the airport though. They are just past mile marker 7. I gave up and called them. Some restaurants and shopping close by.

I liked the property. Seems well situated for business, family's or couples. No swimming beach though if that is important to you.

Staff was nice and I liked that I could park myself. I also noticed airline staff staying there which I deem to be a pretty good sign.

We stayed 3 nights at this resort and found it to be beautiful. I don't know what some people expect but believe me I have stayed at much worse. Rooms are so pretty with dark brown plantation shutters and beautiful grounds. And, they did have a place out by the beach and out front for smokers which is way better than most places in Hawaii. Pool was nice with a waterfall and Cooks Landing was a great open air bar. Coffee bar is good too for some delicious coffee. I was concerned before I went cause of reported bed bugs bet we did not have that problem. The only complaint that I might have is that the rooms did not get cold enough for us to sleep. The cold air came right out at the thermostat so the air conditioning kept cutting off and on when the air was cool across the room which just did not make it to the bed area. Otherwise, we enjoyed this hotel immensely.

“Pretty Good”

The room looked very nice and was more upscale than a lot of hotels that you are likely to find in the same price range. The staff was friendly and the concierge was very helpful to us in finding nearby places for sightseeing and eating. The location is good, a five minute walk from the Coconut Marketplace, and central to a lot of activities on the island.

This hotel is a very good place to stay if you are intending to spend most of your time sightseeing and exploring, but if you want to spend your whole vacation in a room it may not be the best. The bathroom was really small, as was the lanai. The only other problem we had while we were there was the incredibly loud air conditioner that sometimes made it hard to sleep.
