“A Great Place to Stay and Relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2009

We stayed here for two weeks the later part of February. We had a First Floor Ocean Front room, The room was in the Molokai Building (on the end) so it angled to the beach.
The room was very comfortable and had a fridge, microwave, coffe maker, eating utensils and a small sink for doing dishes. The bed was nice and firm and there were extra pillows if needed.
The only negative is that the parking was kind of sparse. Get in too late in the evening and you may find yourself parking some distance away.

Upon arrival at the Islander we were given a room with 2 double beds. When we asked to be switched to a queen, we were told it would be more money because" that's what we had reserved". (Our reservation never stated what kind of bed we were to have) Considering that the hotel was not full, we thought it would be to their better management to give us the queen, but they didn't and were not very friendly about it.

The hotel also was only giving "free" coffee the first night of arrival and then you would have to pay $1.00 for the coffee pod for the machine. I basically told the front that I felt that we were being nickled and dimed! The toiletries supplied daily cost more!

The grounds are nice, the pool is ok and pool bar was fun at happy hour.
When we returned home, I wrote the company and after a few emails back and forth, was told that the coffee policy was changed and that everyone would now get coffee every day!
Would I stay again, perhaps but there are lots of other places to try.

All previous reviews said it, great value and clean. We rented from a private owner (not the resort) off of craigslist, unit #220. PM me for the owners contact details. We would definitely stay there again!

We stayed at the Islander for our 10th wedding anniversary. The rooms were huge und wonderful. The hotel is perfect located to reach the North Shore and the South Shore.
We loved to relax at the pool and the jacuzee at the end of the day after we went on outings. The supermarket was not far away. We got some meat and shrimps for the bbq and there were always nice people at the pool area to talk to.

We stayed at this property in January and loved every moment that we were here! We arrived on Kauai without a reservation (!!!) but knew that there were vacancies (I had been in touch with KQ reservations). Prior to booking, the front desk staff let us take a look around at a suite, but were not able to book that particular one because it was going to be occupied on one day of our stay. So - Susan (I hope that is the right name because she was fabulous!) upgraded us to an ocean view room! Wow! We fell asleep to the sound of the waves every night.
We didn't have any issues with the room. It is older, so if you're expecting five star accommodations - go somewhere else. We loved the fact that there was a microwave, fridge, toaster and coffee maker - it saved us a great deal by being able to purchase groceries and eat breakfast in. The location is central, perfect if you are hoping to check out the North or South side of the island. The beach - nice place to look at, but not a safe place to swim. And the restaurant next door at the Beach Boy is incredible and Trees is also delicious! We were sad to leave and head to Oahu. This is definitely a place that we would return to.

We (my wife and I and our two teenage daughters) wanted a relaxing holiday in beautiful scenery and we got exactly that and more. We stayed in Oceanfront rooms and would definitely opt for this choice again as the rooms were lovely and spacious and had fantastic views. The gardens were well kept and the gardener was even working on Xmas day!
The Islander on the Beach was situated in a convenient place to explore the whole island.
We recommend Captain Andy's boat trip to the Napali Coast - this was wet and wild and well worth the money.
So much to see and do and can't wait to come back soon.

Spend the extra money to get a oceanside room. The parking is limited and our car was dented because of the small parking spaces. Rooms were a little noisey from other rooms.
