WOW!! We spent 5 nights in this newly renovated gem on the ocean. The hotel is literally feet from the Pacific. The wall of our room facing the ocean was completely glass--we looked out at cocoanut and palm trees and blue waves. Our room was very clean and bright. The doors and windows to our balcony were covered by floor to ceiling white louvered folding doors. The four-poster beds are extremely comfortable as was the leather easy chair. There is accent lighting throughout (blue lights around the ceiling!) and the tropical motif fan is lovely. The bath has double sinks and a jacuzi. Other extras are HDTV and DVD, full size mirrored closet, beach towels and mats, laundry, and exercise room with sauna. Oh, there is also a lovely pool with a lava rock waterfall. We sat at the pool with a river to one side and the ocena on the other. The landscaping is also well kept with a darling pond and garden. The best part is that this is a small, locally owned hotel. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Coffee and croissants started each day. If you are looking for a romantic, quiet place with problably the best view of the ocaen on Kauai, this is the hotel for you. The Coral Reef really exceeded our expectations. We have stayed in hotels across America, and often the web descriptions are better than reality, but we found the Coral Reef to be better than its description on the web. We will miss waking up to the sound of the ocean waves and the palm trees waving in the breeze.
