Very nice and cozy condos in a good location. Stayed in unit #10, a beachfront efficiency on the ground floor with a murphy bed.
Pros: The location is nice and central for access to the entire island of Kauai. Price is competitive with other condos in the area. Unit 10 was well furnished with a full set of kitchenwares (pots/pans/dishes/utensils/cooking tools etc) as well as a few very nice extras, like chip clips, beach chairs, rain umbrellas, and Hawaiian music CD's/movie DVD's to get in the Kauai mood. The property is small and has a cozy family feel to it, unlike even some of the other condos on Papaloa Rd. It was also very quiet, not a lot of kids around while we were there, thank goodness. Also the bird symphony is not as bad as Lae Nani--at Kapaa Sands we weren't woken up in the morning by birds. Our building was so close to the water that we'd fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of waves crashing on the shore.
Cons: The beach fronting the property is not very swimmable. Front office hours are limited, generally business hours, although a phone number is provided for emergencies. Beach towels are not provided--only pool towels and you apparently have to hunt down the maid to get new ones. There is an honor-system washer/drier on site so you could bring your own beach towels if needed. Lastly we had some struggles with the shower head which seemed to have a mind of its own temperature-wise, and never really wanted to stick with any one temperature.
In short we would stay here again. For the two of us it was a good amount of space in a good location.
