All I can say is WOW! Beside the fact that this resort is located on Kauai, which is the most beautiful place on Earth, the staff and the accomodations at the Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy were amazing. We called the staff from the Lihue airport to get directions and were pleased to find out that it was only five miles from the airport in Kapa'a and was very easy to find. When I went to check in I was greeted by three very friendly staff members at the front desk, one of whom informed me that they had upgraded us for free from the garden view efficiency room that I had reserved to a 2 bedroom, 2 bath OCEANFRONT condominium with full kitchen and full living room. The only caveat was that we could only be in it for the first 3 days of our vacation and we would move to another unit for our last day. I said no problem, and the desk clerk informed me that all we had to do was pack our things and have them ready on that last morning and the staff would move us. All of that went flawlessly and we never really had to do anything, they took care of it. The grounds were immaculately groomed, the pool and hottub were beautiful and the beach and ocean were awesome. The beach area directly in front of the resort is small and rocky, however you can walk up the beach about 50 yards and it really opens up. Also the groomed lawn runs right up to the sand and most patrons just lay on lounge chairs on the lawn, which was very nice. Also they have a couple of hammocks that are placed beneath the most beautiful coconut palms. It is a perfect place to take a nap in the shade, as I did, with the sounds of the waves crashing in the background and the 10-15 mph sustained breeze that ALWAYS comes off the water and through the resort. On our last night there, we ate at Hukilau Lanai, which is the restaurant right there in the resort. Trust me when I say this, if you plan on eating a nice dinner out, this is the ONLY place on the island to do it. It is that good. My wife and I went down to Roy's the night before in Poipu and Roy's has nothing on Hukilau Lanai. There is a reason it is rated number 1 in Kauai on tripadvisor. We sat out on the patio that overlooks the garden and we could see the ocean as we ate. The food was unbelievable as well and very reasonably priced. We were kicking ourselves for not eating there twice as opposed to going down to Roy's. Also check out the italian place in Old Kapa'a town called Pizzeta's. They had great pizza there and they served big portions as well. The location on the island was also a huge plus in our opinion. Kapa'a is a pretty little town, and it has grocery stores, pharmacies, some fast food, and other modern conveniences. Also, because of Kapa'a's location on the middle of the eastern coast, you can go north up the coast all the way around the north part of the island through Kilauea and Princeville to Hanalei in about an hour or you can go south down the coast and around the southern part of the island through Poipu, Kiloa, and Waimea to the Waimea Canyon in the same amount of time. Oh and did I mention that we got all of this through hotels.com for $109 a night
