“Great Vacation location on Kauai”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

Just got back from a week's stay at the Kauai Coast Resort. We stayed here in 2007 and the resort is still in very good shape. The grounds are impeccable, service is excellent and the one bedroom Garden View that we stayed in was very nice. The best thing about the resort.....the Hukilau Lanai. The restaurant at the resort is one of the best on the island. I'd rate this 5 stars! We ate there 6 years ago and the quality and service remain of the highest quality in 2013. We made reservations at the restaurant through open table at least 3-4 weeks ahead because this restaurant is full and difficult to get into without that reservation. The restaurant is typically booked at least 1-2 weeks out, so keep that in mind if you decide to go there for dinner. They are closed on Monday's but open the rest of the week. The only reason I didn't give the resort 5 stars because the appliances (although functional) and furniture are a bit dated and need updated. Otherwise, this resort is right near the beach and Coconut Marketplace with shops and small resturants. Recommend you check out Eggburts for breakfast and the Fish Hut for great seafood.

Room Tip: We stayed on the south side of the Blue Hawaii building on the ground floor in a one bedroom. Quiet...

“First time stay on Kauai”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

Wow. I only wished I had booked longer than 5 nights as it was not long enough. Great location and hotel. We stayed in an Oceanfront 1 bedroom in the Alii building. We loved everything about our stay over Valentines Day this year. Had Valentines dinner at the Hukilau restaurant on site and were not disappointed. Make sure you reserve ahead of time, as plenty of people had not made reservations and could not get in. Most days we made breakfast, but we did go to Eggberts at the Coconut marketplace and it was very good. Next time we will stop at Costco first and get all kinds of great stuff to BBQ as well as fresh fruit. The fruit/pineapples were less expensive and better at Costco than they were at the little farmers market at the Coconut marketplace. We had Sushi one night at Kintaro's which we could walk to and it was very good and also reasonably priced. I expected the Sushi to be good based upon locals feedback but I had not expected it to also be reasonably priced, so that was a plus. If you are looking for a quick bite to eat, the Poolside bar serves food which is also very good. I got a REAL Caesar salad which is hard to find these days. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. We will definitely be back and I am even considering getting married here in 2014.

“Exceeds expectations year after year”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

We have returned to the Kauai Coast resort for the last three years and have never been so happy with any other resort, and we have stayed at many on the islands. We have been in both one and two bedroom suites and in ocean front and garden units. All were perfecction - beautifuly decorated, well maintained and fresh with everything you might want to have for a short or longterm stay. The grounds are beautifully kept, gardeners scurrying to pick up the nightfall of leaves every morning and tending the extensive plantings. Everyone on staff is friendly and helpful and although there is some encouragement to attend the timeshare presentaton, there is absolutely no arm-twisting and a simple "no thanks" suffices. After I said no, I had a friendly, laughter-filled conversation with a local who suggested places I might want to visit and some local, off the grid eating places. The garden view unit here would be touted and billed as an ocean view anywhere else, as from our lanai in the garden view we see and hear the ocean and can spend an early dawn watching the sky turn pink with the birds singing. No roosters here, though! It is centrally located with easy drives to the attractions of both the North and South shore and a 24 hour supermarket (remarkable on this island) and pharmacy within walking distance (although not recommended due to the heavy traffic on the one island highway)

Room Tip: Don't be concerned about garden view rooms - ocean is still visible

“Wedding Vacation 3/3/13”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

My daughter and I chose this venue for her destination wedding strictly by using trip advisor and other internet sites. The photographs do not do this place justice. We also stayed at Kauai Coast Resort from 2/28/13 through 3/4/13. To begin with, we were upgraded from a studio to a two bedroom. Gorgeous room inside with everything you could need. Very spacious. The wedding location is gorgeous. The outside cocktail hour/pupu area was also beautifully set up - beyond our wildest dreams. We also had the reception at the Hukilau Lanai. The food was delicious! Everyone raved about the food and the desserts and even the wedding cake. But, the best part of all was the staff. They were extremely attentive to everyone. Our bartender Michael did an awesome job of keeping everyone happy with their drinks and Manda, the wedding coordinator, and her assistant Christie (?) kept everything running smoothly. All in all a great resort and great place for a wedding and reception. P.S. Best Mai Tai's on the entire island - and we tried to test them all!

“I agree with all of the last reviewer's comments”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

There is not much I can add to what the last several reviewers have said. This is a beautiful, well maintained resort with efficient and very friendly staff. I will elaborate a bit on the location. It has been mentioned that it is centrally located on the island, which is true, but it is also next door to "mini-mart" with chips, milk, beer, wine, etc. as well as gifts. There is also a major grocery store within walking distance . Both of these a bonus features to this property.

We have stayed at the KCRATBB several times and a feature since last year is the addition of an outdoor patio area. Previously, this area was tennis courts. We never saw anyone playing tennis all the times were were there. They removed the fences and the nets and added four seating areas, each with a gas fire pit and very nice outdoor couches. This is a great addition.

One last thing. This property only has three building and a total of 108 rooms. For us, this is much more comfortable size that some of the "major players" in the hotel world where there are 500-1000 rooms in one complex. We love KCRATBB and will be back. We hope in 2014!

Room Tip: There are not any bad rooms. We prefer 2nd or 3rd floor room. We stay in an ocean front room and t...
