“Back again to Kauai!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

We can't stay away long from Kauai and Kapa'a. We managed to survive 10 days in the Hawaiian winter as one night it plummeted to 58 degrees Fahrenheit! Really?? It was just a tad chillier at home in Canada.
Once again the staff at this SVC resort went above and beyond the call of duty.
Landscaping was immaculate...however I did notice a lack of chickens this time. I'll be honest I enjoy them but I don't have to put up with them 365 days a year.

“A great two week vacation.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

This is our second vacation at the Beachboy. We had enjoyed our first visit about 5 years ago, though that was for only a few days. This time we were there for a full two weeks.

The apartment was spacious, very well appointed and very clean. There was no sign of wear and chipping from any of the contents from furniture to crockery, one of my pet hates! The grounds have been kept in fantastic condition by an army of gardeners seen out hard artwork first thing each morning. Quite amazing. All staff we encountered were very professional and friendly as well as being eager to please. We didn't get to go to the restaurant, it was on our list of "must does" but we didn't book far enough ahead.

Just one little moan, there was no outside light on the balcony making it impossible to enjoy an evening meal and listen to the sea crashing a few yards away.

We will return!

“Great Stay for a Reasonable Price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

We stayed here for four nights in Dec. 2012. For the price (we paid $164/per night) we weren't sure what to expect. What a pleasant surprise! Our two bedroom, two bath garden view villa with an island decor was very clean and nicely laid out. The bedrooms are on opposite ends of each other with the living area and kitchen between them. One bedroom and the living room had sliding glass doors leading out to a large balcony, while the master bedroom had its own private balcony. The kitchen had plenty of countertop space and was well stocked. We also had a stackable washer/dryer behind folding doors in one of the bathrooms. Although our room was called 'garden view' we had an ocean view from our balcony and could hear the waves crashing on shore.

This resort is exactly the type of place we love staying at while in Hawaii. It's spread out and not overwhelmingly large which allows for a peaceful, island experience. The grounds are well kept with winding sidewalks that connect the buildings to each other. Gently swaying on one of their hammocks between two palm trees while the sun warms you and the ocean slides up the sand just feet away...paradise.

We didn't use the pool but sat by it a couple of times. Nice free form design with a small waterfall and a kiddie pool alongside. The hot tub sits up on a small hill, allowing you to see the ocean while soaking. Another nice feature is an area of tables, grills and fire pits which are lit each evening.

The beach area is narrow and steep, but georgeous! Beautiful sunrises, driftwood, lava ledges and even the occasional monk-seal snoozing on the beach.

The resort is directly behind the open air Coconut Marketplace. It's a quick walk across a quiet street to do a little shopping or eat a delicious breakfast at Eggbert's while a rainbow forms over the mountains. They also have a farmer's market in the parking lot on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Great place to get locally grown fruits and veggies.

Pros: Clean, quiet, great room layout, centrally located for sightseeing, feet from the ocean's edge, six miles from airport.

Cons: Non swimable beach, traffic congestion on the only main 'highway' in front of resort (obviously not the resort's fault, but be aware especially in the afternoon hours).

Room Tip: The buildings are long and narrow, running east to west. The oceanFRONT rooms are on the east end...

“Great Customer Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

This review focuses on excellent customer service throughout the resort, but in particular by Tasha the concierge and Thomas in marketing. We met both of them when we came to our room to find that the previous occupants had not yet moved out and were nowhere to be found. Both worked beyond their regular work day and gave us personal cell and email addresses to make certain we could call them with any questions we had. I might add that this was on a Friday night. We were given dining vouchers and special rates on activities because of the inconvenience. When the couple did return to their room, Thomas made sure that a special housekeeping crew was called back to prepare the room for us. Neither Tasha nor Thomas was responsible for the glitch, but their customer service was outstanding.

Mahalo for the positive comments about customer service. So often we focus on the negative and report the bad experiences we encounter. There are so many times that our Concierge team works hard to make a guest's stay GREAT! It is part of their job to ask people to go on a time share tour but that is not the only thing they do. They really are focused on making everyone's stay a great one even if that guest is not staying at the Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy. Just to be clear the issue the guest encountered was not one here at the Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy but a neighboring property. Our concierge team worked with contacts they had at the neighboring property to help the guest resolve their challenges.
