“Nice place, good location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

Stayed here 10 nights. 3 nights in small, studio type room, 7 nights in large 1 bedroom with kitchen. Nearly all rooms have a partial ocean view.
The small room is too small. Not enough room for 2 people and bags. No storage for anything. Shared balcony (divided by fence,no privacy) with room next to it. Was cleaned every day. I do not recommend this room.
The large room has plenty of room for 2, could sleep 4 easily. Large private balcony. Full kitchen stocked with all utensils/pots/pans - no rice cooker. It had small gnats in the kitchen when we arrived. I assume it is because housecleaning was done rarely. It was cleaned only once, on the 4th day of our stay.
Located near everything. 30 minutes to north shore, 45 minutes to the canyon.
Free parking (parking spaces are very small and tight, hard to find on weekends), free internet. Barbecue grill access. Resort located on beach, near Aston Islander (rooms looked small and outdated), and Plantation Hale (street view only, long walk from beach).
Go to farmer's market in Coconut Marketplace parking lot on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Room Tip: Do not stay in the small studio room. Go to farmer's market in Coconut Marketplace parking lot o...

Spent our 1 year anniversary back at our first meeting place, the beautiful Kauai Coast Resort! The staff was more than accommodating and helpful! Our room was just as we remembered in which made it all the more wonderful and memorable to be back there again. Clean and all you need to have a complete stay. No place else has all the accommodations at such a great price! The only thing was not having internet service in our room as we needed the wireless service to perform tasks and connect with family. Wireless service is available but had very poor service not only in our room but most parts of the resort. Great renovations to the pool area but notifications should've been posted when making reservations or booking to allow guests to know and choose if the use of the pool would affect they're choice of dates to stay at the resort.

Room Tip: Every room are the same, but the garden and ocean sets it apart of course! But getting it at a disco...

Now that we've been & come home I can provide some feedback on other reviews. This is a resort that you need to weigh what is important to you. Pro's first: Large units, most importantly very clean. Nice Lanai's, we also had a partial ocean view & stayed in the Ali'i building facing the empty green space on the third floor. Let me say that we did not have any issues with noise coming from the green space like another reviewer had. The next best thing is that this resort is just a few steps over to the Coconut Marketplace where you can eat at Eggbert's (open til 2pm ish), there is also a Fish Hut & an Island Grill - all were good. Also a Farmer's Market two mornings a week. Aside from these food choices, the resort is also a short distance over to more reasonably priced restaurants and grocery stores. A good central location for going up island to the North and to Poipu & Wiamea Canyon. Now for the Con's: We were kept waiting to check in upon our arrival (at least 45 minutes). Concierge alert: this reviewer agrees another one...give them your room number (they say it's for parking) & they call you every morning at 8:30am to try to get you in for a timeshare presentation. After the 3rd morning & my husband's insistence, they stopped calling. The master bed was lumpy and dipped in the middle; the pool & poolside bar was closed the whole week we were there! We did have noisy yelling & door slamming neighbors that could be heard. Parking can be an issue, the closer lot gets filled up quite fast, depending on where your building is this can be an inconvenience.
All in all, weighing the good and bad, we think we would return here. We liked the location! Be sure not to miss the Saturday Market at the Kauai College, it's a good one!

Room Tip: Corner on the 3rd floor of Ali'i building facing the green space had nice ocean views.

The resort is decent, but the concierge desk was horrible. They offered a partial refund on one of our trips that we booked and then reneged on their agreement. It's an ok place to stay as long as you don't believe the service desk, or run into any problems...then it's a complete nightmare dealing with customer service. It's better to find a place that doesn't lie to its customers. They also told me that they don't book online for their rooms, yet I see available rooms all over the place.

Room Tip: All the rooms are decent quality.

I am very sorry that you had an issue with our Concierge Desk. I have brought up the concerns voiced recently to the department manager. if you could please contact me directly here at the resort I woudl like to get more specifics to see if this is a specific person or something that needs to be addressed at a higher level. 808-822-3441 Mahalo for your comments and helping us get better!!

KCR is a great place to stay. The staff is very friendly and extremely attentive. We had some issues on arrival, but they were resolved as soon as it was possible. We stayed in a one bedroom garden view suit, but still we had some view of the ocean.
The property is very well maintained and beautiful. In fact this was one of the reasons we picked it as last year I stayed at the neighboring Courtyard Marriott, which wasn't this well kept. KCR is above average.
We had the option of no daily cleaning, yet we received a stack of clean towels every day as well as the garbage was taken out. It was perfect as this wasn't bothering anyone even if we were hiding in the room from the rain. I've got the impression that the rooms were thoroughly cleaned normally. Ours was definitely nice and clean on our arrival.
The problem we had was with the sofabed, it was addressed immediately, but they do seem to be ready for replacement. Otherwise everything worked fine in the room, which was very well equipped even with washer and drier, so we could leave half of our stuff home if we knew.
The resort is walking distance from the Coconut Market Plaza, which is very convenient since the restaurant is open only for dinners and even then it's a bit tough to get a reservation as it is a top rated Kauai restaurant - well deservedly.
Bigger groceries and shopping areas are 5-10 minutes drive, so the location is excellent from that perspective.
The beach looks nice but not quite for swimming. Considering that a bigger/second pool would be nice as kids and adults don't always mix well in this respect. The current pool is very pleasant, the right temperature for just hanging around and kids do so as much as their parents let them - rain or shine.
Overall it is a great place to stay on the East Coast for a relaxing vacation.

Room Tip: There are three floors but no elevators, so if you have issues with stairs you need to stay ground f...

The staff at The Beachboy are way up the list on BESTEVER. Everyone always made a point of wishing a great day and acknowledging you...great people.
The properties are without a doubt some of the finest we have ever attended.
Our first time in Kauai...but certainly not our last!

Room Tip: Overlooking the spa area or ocean view would be a plus. But all rooms are so comfortable, it is hard...

My husband and I recently took a much needed get a way at this Shell Vacations Property. I was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the rooms and grounds. This is a small resort...perfect for a romantic time. The restaurant on the premises was excellent. We enjoyed the local scenery and excersions also. Overall, it was the perfect spot for us to enjoy a romantic reunion after my husband's deployment!
