Owner description: Please be advised that the trail leading to Secret Falls has been greatly improved since November 16th, 2014. A board walk has been installed to span the ditches which have been very muddy for many months. Although the trail is often muddy and slippery, the overall hiking experience is substantially better. For those of you who hiked the Secret Falls trail earlier this year, all of the kayak companies thank you for your patience and understanding that the rain forest trail is through a wilderness which is subject to Mother Nature's whimsical behavior. Mahalo nui loa and a hui hou!

“Highlight of our trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

My husband and I loved the Kayak tour led by Monica. She is very friendly and highly knowledgeable about the flora and fauna encountered along the way. We strongly recommend this tour that encompasses kayaking, hiking and swimming in the falls.

“Fantastic Adventure !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

I can't imagine a better way to navigate the Wailua river and hike to the majestic Wailua fall. Kayak Wailua understands that the best way to guide explorers, of all levels, is to lead the journey side by side. Our guide, Kyle, safely lead us, educated us, and shared in the experience along with us. This was a great adventure for our group.

“Great fun for outdoor enthusiasts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

The excursion was divided into 3 segments: 2 miles of kayaking, hiking to the waterfall and back (2 miles total), and 2 miles of return kayaking. We enjoy kayaking and walking, and so we figured that this would be a terrific experience. It was, except that the kayak-hike combo was a tad beyond our semi-sedentary senior capabilities. The kayaking was fantastic and certainly easy enough, but we were both tired by the end. The hike was mostly easy, except for some rough terrain (for us) near the waterfall. The waterfall itself was spectacular and well worth the hike (yes, it was running again)! Our guide Andy was knowledgeable about local flora, fauna and native lore. Fortunately for us, he was also adept at anticipating tough spots, and was right there with support and help when needed. Kudos to Andy for handling us with grace! It was also fortunate that another couple had brought along 2 sets of collapsible walking sticks and graciously loaned one set to us. We agree with other reviewers that this is a wonderful excursion, but we want to caution people over 60 to make sure that your balance and stamina are both primed for it. We learned the utility of walking sticks (our companions bought them at Target) and will make sure that they accompany us on future excursions. Highly recommended for folks of all ages, including seniors in good physical condition.

“Great Addition to our 25th Anniversary Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

We've never kayaked before but the people at Kayak Wailua were great. They made us feel very comfortable and even suggested the extra long kayak since I'm on the taller end. Needless to say we loved every moment. We were warned early the waterfalls were dry due to a dryer that normal season. Our guide Kyle was great, starting with tips on better kayaking and showing us many sites and plant species. There was no question he wasn't able to answer. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience!
