“Nice staff & affordable lodging”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

I really don't know why some people give this place anything less than a 5 star rating... Its affordable & the staff is cooperative, understanding & most importantly they are friendly. It really boils down to this - are you traveling to Hawaii to stay in your room all day? If not, the two pools are beautiful. The beach is literally a stones throw away. And you are within walking distance to Kapaa's stores & entertainment. Maybe I've been spoiled (NOT), but it works for me ;-)7.

And yes, there is construction right now... They are obviously working to improve some things - nothing that can't be avoided. Get over it!!

So we needed a hotel for a night and then till we left the following evening. We won't be staying again or recommending it to anyone else.
The room was updated with new furnishings but the window a/c wasn't enough to cool the room without the ceiling fan on high.
The sliding glass door had no lock and only a stick for the track to keep the door closed.
The room door had a big enough chunk out of it to see everything in the room.
The bathtub wasn't especially clean.
The beach was nice but the water is not really safe.

My biggest advice would be to book this hotel AFTER their major construction on their new lobby/resturant is complete. I'm sure this is going to be a huge plus when it's complete but to be there during construction noise allday wasn't very relaxing. It takes care of your basic needs. The room was more spacious then I had expected and recently decorated and modernized but you can see and feel the years on this hotel. Bed reminded me of an IKEA hard bed and wasn't comfortable. I did like the view from our room which overlooked pool area and beach which was a very short walk BUT not a swimming beach. The water was extremely rough. The pool area was nice and clean and a relaxing spot if you ignore the beeping of construction equipment. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. The bathroom mirror area is super tiny and only space for 1 person to try and get ready. They offer Wifi but we couldn't get a signal the whole time we were there and we were close to their business center which I thought would help the strength but didn't. This is a 2 story hotel and no elevators only stairs. This hotel was just o.k.

Room Tip: If you don't want to lug your suitcases upstairs or have limitations get a down stairs room

Aloha and thank you for our guest. We finishes renovating all the rooms and the landscaping. We are in the process of renovating the lobby and the restaurant, which will be complete by mid summer.

Our apologies for the construction vehicle's beeping noise during the week days.

Look forward to your next trip and hopefully you will get to enjoy the new restaurant.

I stayed here for 7 days and enjoyed it very much. The staff was accommodating, helpful and very friendly. They have a business center with computers for guest use, two pools, a fire pit and soon a restaurant! Can't wait to come back.

Room Tip: I had a room with a kitchenette. It actually saved us money to have our own drinks/food/snacks.

Aloha,
I am not sure which hotel you stayed at. At the Kauai Shores we do advertise the hospitality fee of $15/night, which includes the wifi in the rooms and around the property, Business center, coffee and teak every morning from 6:am to 10:00am, parking, yoga on the beach three times a week, a manger's weekly cocktail reception, free unlimited DVD rental.

This hospitality fee is charged to every room. It is also disclosed at check in and every guest acknowledges it. There is no hidden charges at all.

Regards

We stayed in this hotel for three nights, even though we were only planning on staying for one night. Buyer Beware: We booked through trip advisor, and then Expedia for two of the nights, and the third night we booked through the hotel. Price was MUCH CHEAPER when booking through the hotel. About $50 cheaper, actually. Also, there is a $15/day resort fee. Not that big of a deal, but we had no clue that we would be charged this fee until we were checking in. The description we were given about the fee was very vauge....but it was something to do with all of the 'complimentary' things that were available. Including parking, the pool, the BBQ, and the business center. There was coffee and tea available in the mornings but, a light breakfast would've been nice if included. Considering that Kaui is a very active island and we were always on the go,and not many places open before 10am where we could get breakfast. There is wifi available at no extra charge, but at times it didn't work that well. The beach was a very beautiful perk of the hotel, and there were chairs out so we could sit and enjoy the beautiful Hawaii view. Room was very spacious with a good air conditioner, which was a plus.the bed was very comfortable and helped us get a good nights rest. All in all we will be back to this hotel because it had the best price. Once the renovations are finished I'm sure we will enjoy this hotel the way it's intended to be.

Very nice, recently renovated hotel, located a few minutes drive from Kapa'a.
Rooms are very spacious, with very comfortable beds, nice, clean bathroom and big balcony.
Flat TV and desk is in every room. Coffee and tea is available for guests in the morning as well as a microwave and toaster (in shared room next to the reception desk). There were some problems with WiFi during our stay, but Starbucks is just 2 minutes drive :) Swimming pool is basic but nice. The beach is beautiful but be careful as getting into the water is tough.
Would definitely recommend it for this price. It was pretty loud during the day as there is some construction going on but that should end soon.

Room Tip: Don't take garden view, you make end up with facing the wall :)
