“SIMPLE, CLEAN being RENOVATED”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

This hotel is being renovated as we speak and the rooms have been updated with bright colours. We travelled here with YMT Vacations. we had a pool side room , ground floor with a lanai overlooking the pool and we liked this but you had to close the curtains for any privacy. The staff were not all that friendly or helpful. There are no restaurants or bars on sight but many local places are within a short walk including a grocery store. There is a free continental breakfast and free wifi. The beach is quite rocky and steep at this location and they don't have many beach chairs. Sunsets are spectacular to see from this location.

Room Tip: POOL view , ground floor lanai.

Stayed 3 nights. Booked a standard room and were upgraded to a garden view. Ocean views cost more, but it is a side ocean view, not a direct view and faces the pool area. There are kitchenette rooms too which cost more.

Pros:
Hilmy the Manager and his staff were friendly and I never saw as busy a manager as Hilmy, doing all sorts of jobs.
Room was a nice size, comfortable bed, nice toiletries and our cleaning gal was excellent.
Wednesday Mai-tai welcome in the Lobby wit Hilmy was lovely.
Yoga about 3 times a week at around 8.30am on the lawn. Wifi was good.
Lobby was a separate nice building where daily coffee and tea was served.
There is no breakfast included. However there were complimentary donuts, bananas, juice offered at about 7am.
Pool area and entire hotel maintained well. 1 bbq for grilling. Sign out for pool towels.
The bedside lamps have electrical outlets in them -- very handy.
Good location to: the Kauai Path, groceries, restaurants, beach.
There are very nice hotels on either side of Kauai Shores.
Lava Lava Beach Club will be opening in about 6 months.

Cons:
For the next 4 - 6 months there is NO lobby.
The office, registration and tea area have been moved to Rooms 168, 170 etc. whilst the restaurant area, new office and lobby are built. And whilst there might be tea and coffee offered there were no complimentary snacks on Saturday, the day we checked out.
Our bathroom sink was very small, but manageable.
The console/chest in the bedroom looks good in the pictures but is low. Whilst the TV was big, you had to bend or sit on the floor for the small fridge, the small safe, and there were only two small drawers for putting your clothes in. We put our suitcases on chairs and just hung up our jackets.
There is no elevator, regardless of what you might be told. I was given wrong information and took a 2nd floor room which we changed to a first floor on checking in.
The garden room patio area has been cleaned up, but there is little privacy. The partitions have open areas, so you can see others next to you.
The room walls are thin. If we did not have the a/c on we could hear what was said next door.

Conclusion: We usually stay in condos, so for a hotel for 3 nights, this was one of the good deals we found. We paid an additional $15/day plus tax as a resort fee on checking in. Once the restaurant is open and being familiar with the accommodations and staff, I would return if I needed a hotel, but only if the price remained lower than its neighbors.

The hotel was simple and clean, exactly what we wanted for the right price right on the ocean. There was free wifi and parking. We were happy to have a non-pool side to offer a bit more quietness as that was what we desired.

The conditioner, soap bar and lotion are all organic :)
We found the bed and pillows all comfortable !

Also, the staff was super friendly which always makes for a great experience.

Room Tip: Non-pool sides are quieter.

This property will only get better. It's a 4.5 now but I gave it a 5 because of the ongoing rehabilitation of this older property. The rooms are remodeled and clean, bright colors have been used throughout. Beds are good, linens fresh and modern, and the toiletries are tropical in scent. Breakfast was continental and coffee was Kauai and very good. This property is on the beach; walk out your door and there's the beach. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Rates are amazingly low. This is what Maui needs; a good mid priced hotel for the average, budget minded traveler. Thank you Aqua! Great resort and more money in our pockets to spend on other things during our vacation.

Friendly staff, great view since it's right on the ocean and has free Wi-Fi. Clean rooms and affordable. Everything that I love when I have to stay at a hotel. We even had free breakfast donuts, danish pastries, fruit, juice, coffee. Very affordable for a hotel that's by the ocean. Good pool with confortable lounge chairs. We took long walks next to the ocean watching the sun set. Shopping center almost next door I can't think of anything that I didn't like.

Stayed here with a tour so were a captive group but we were pleased with the rooms. Had a room that would be considered poolside I guess. Need to keep the curtains pulled for privacy but was very easy access to the pool and out to the beach. I say beach with tongue in cheek as there was sand to sit on but if you want to go in the ocean, you better have very good swim shoes. This is all coral as soon as you hit the water and don't even think about walking in with out shoes. We did walk about a mile down towards the highway and found a nice public beach with sand and access to the ocean without sore feet ! This place is an older 50's or 60's motel built in the classic "U" shape that has been remodeled. room was very nice and clean and OK for us although a little small. No restaurant here so you have to go out to eat but we found several good places locally.

Room Tip: poolside were nice

This place is newly renovated and perfect for exploring all the island has to offer! It's located centrally making it the perfect location for those planning to make day trips to all of the islands different attractions! With free yoga, breakfast, a private beach & the friendly staff this hotel is a winner! I would definitely reccomend booking here and saving money for excursions since enjoying a resort or amenities would be a waste of your stay when you are in such a beautiful tropical paradise! Also this place fronts on an amazing beach & they have a toes in the sand restaurant bar under construction right now!
