Kauai Shores Hotel is the best hotel in Kauai. You can't beat the location since its steps from the ocean and they have some really awesome rates. The staff is very friendly and go out of their way to make it a memorable experience. I travel throughout the USA for my job so I would recommend them.

The location was beautiful and secluded. An ancient sacred Hawaiian landmark and healing pool is nearby. The bed was very comfortable and gave a restful nights sleep. The rooms are air conditioned with walkout lanais, very clean with tropical Hawaiian décor and colors. Computers and printer are in the open air lobby and are free! Two nice pools on the property that the rooms all look out onto. A continental breakfast is offered in the A.M.. Tour companies for helicopter rides on the island, snorkeling and cave trips, surf board, snorkel rentals, restaurants, shopping, gas stations, etc. are within walking distance. The staff was wonderful and the owner was on site and more than helpful with a situation that arose from my flight predicament. This owner is very appreciated by his employees and their dedication to him and their jobs show. He has wonderful plans for this hotel but the renovation work never interfered with my the evening or day time agenda. The hotel beach area was clean and some customers had beach fires at night there. No charge for lawn chairs on the beach either! The beach can be walked for miles from there. Saw a beautiful double rainbow and sea turtle one morning too! I came to Kauai Sands now Kauai Shores hotel alone and left with many new friendships and a hotel and staff I now consider family and a second home. You can either take a taxi for $25.00 each way from the airport but renting a car is the best way as exploring the island is a must! Speed limits are slower than the mainland so the 11 miles drive to the Airport takes about 20 to 30 minutes. Some roads are windy with one lane bridges especially along the coastal areas so slow down and take in the serenity this island has to offer. So much to enjoy here and at the hotel!

Room Tip: There are two stories to choose from. Each room has an outdoor lanai. Each room faces a pool. Walkin...

My mom and me spend the month of January at the Kauai Sands for the last 3years. It's wonderful! The upgrades are great. We look so forward to our visit to coming back this January, 2015!

The manager and his staff will go out of their way to help you and make sure your stay is a good experience. Just ask.

We feel very safe, love our room, the beach is right there, walk next door to the farmers market for our fresh vegs & fruits, great location to any were on island.
We haven't found any place we would rather stay!

Thank you, can't wait to see you in January

The newly renovated rooms are colorful and include modern updates. Very clean room and great value. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The grounds are neat, well landscaped and have beautiful access to the beach. Family friendly.
Would have liked a hot breakfast but was satisfied with the continental. Great coffee!
Secured and lovely setting...so tropical!

Room Tip: Rooms facing garden are quiet.

Just loving the new look to the place. The rooms are much more improved the upgrades is great. The front desk check-in you super fast and easy, didn't no you folks had the Wi-Fi in place now and could reach in the rooms as well ,
Kauai Sands is always the place me and the rest of my family always stay when on the island from the old to the now new look to the place.
Just can't wait for you folks open up the dinning area once again , the grilling by the pool is just awesome ( didn't get a chance to use it , but on the next visit its a must ).
Over all best value for your buck ,
I'm telling everyone to book at your hotel .
Plus now with the DVD/GAME PS rental is awesome .

Room Tip: Ask for ground floor that way you don't have to walk up stairs ( LoL ).

Great updated hotel, I was very surprised how nice it was when I got in. I'm surprised it actually want more expensive. Comfortable bed, LCD TV, WiFi in my room, updated decor throughout. Parking is $9, but still a great value.

My husband and I visited for the 2nd time the first week of June. The prices for a beachside hotel cannot be beat. The bed was very comfortable and the place is clean with a very hospitable staff. **Angela ..... Miss you!!**

We enjoyed the free breakfast, although would prefer a bit more of a variety in the donuts/rolls...and at least some butter/jelly for the dry croissants! Also maybe another fruit option as mentioned on a previous review. It is a great addition to help offset the parking charge we did not incur on our first visit here in 2012.

There was one little quirk. The light and ceiling fan is operated by a remote control which was not in the room. (I do not know if it has been found yet.) There is no switch on the wall to operate it or anything besides the remote. It was off when we got there and we just used the other lamps in the room for light...until the light and fan came on by itself. It came time to go to sleep and we couldn't turn it off. Management sent security over who still couldn't get it to turn off. We ended up sleeping in a different room across the hall that night, being advised that the ceiling fan/lights were scheduled to be programmed the next day. When we left our original room the next day the ceiling light was still on, but was off when we returned. There was still no remote control in the room for the light. (???) Management took care of us with minimal inconvenience on that one.

One other issue that was a bit bothersome regarding the in room safe. Our room had one but it did not work
When I asked about it, we were told that the safe did not work in the room but we could use the lock boxes they offer at the front desk at no charge.

I love Kauai Sands and will stay again if I get a chance to go back to Kauai.

A few suggestions. Put a switch on the wall to operate your ceiling light and fan. Also, do not offer a feature that is not available. If the in room safe is out of commission, advise the customer of that immediately and offer a discount, a different room or something other that leaving valuables at the front desk safety deposit boxes.

Aloha and thank you for staying with us. During our remodeling, we experience an operational challenge with the fan/light. The remotes were removed from the rooms for re programming. It's back in the rooms and the fans/lights are operating well.
The safes were just installed with the room renovations, we were awaiting the hand held computer to program the safes. It's all done now. I am really sorry for the couple of challenges you faced.
On your next visit please give me a call directly and I'll be happy to help make your next stay here very comfortable.
