This is a great place to stay if you want more than a hotel room. We stayed in a two bedroom, two bath unit with a kitchen. We had 3 teens with my husband and I so we prepared most meals in our room. There are also gas and charcoal grills, (charcoal provided), we cooked some shrimp and fresh fish one night. There is also a great restaurant at this resort. This is definetely a low-key type of resort with great amenities. If you want to stay in a luxury upscale resort go to Princeville. The best thing was being so close to the ocean that you get lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves and wake up to a brillant sunrise that we could see from our room. I grew up in Hawaii and being at this resort made me think of the old days in Hawaii. I will definetely come back to this resort. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The closest you'll every get to heaven without dying. Completely renovated. High end resort with competitive pricing.

We stayed 4 nights at the HCR in late February, in an ocean front unit. We loved the place but the building directly across from us was under rennovation so had construction - noise and people - all day during the day (no privacy). They didn't tell us about this until we were checking in. I brought this up when we checked out and was able to get a substantial discount because of this - they wanted to "make right" the situation.

So ... I'd definitely stay there again. The ocean front units are worth the extra $$'s, lot's of space, windows, etc. - ours was literally 20 steps from the water (and it wasn't even the closest one!).

Just returned from a week at the H.C.R. (our honeymoon). I've given it a 5 rating not because it's a 5 star property (it's not) but because it's just perfect for what they're trying to do. A beautiful location, right on the ocean, clean rooms, nice shared barbecues, no phones or tv's, nice people, very relaxing. As others have said, if you're looking for 5 star pampering, look elsewhere. But for a nice large, clean room with a full kitchen and the sound of the waves right next to the Na Pali coast, this is your place. It felt great to come home here at the end of the day and we miss it already.

Pay the extra bucks for an ocean view, it's worth it. If you can afford it, the premium ocean views are amazing.

Only possible downside is it's a little loud sometimes at night or early am if you're next door to a family or a large-ish group.
