“Our Kauai tradition”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

This is really the best burger place on Kauai. We try to go there at least once each time we are on Kauai. They are really just a hole in the wall but they make excellent burgers and their fries are great. We ordered their classic cheeseburgers (mine had cheddar) and they were just what we were craving. I don't think you'll find a better burger on the island. The chickens were a problem as they were all over the outside tables, we chose to eat in the car to avoid them (and their poop) If you don't mind eating somewhere else or in your car I would recommend them!

“You'd better love chickens.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Not chicken, chickens. The outdoor dining area often has more chickens (and chicks) as well as stray cats, all looking for handouts. If you order one of the chicken dishes, you may feel a bit guilty if you chose to eat there.

This was a really good burger (I had the Teriyaki and my wife the Cheeseburger). Tasty, nice BBQ flavour, and everything very fresh. Fries and rings were not the best I've ever had but a cut above the average burger place. The milkshakes were superb.

OK you won't remember the burgers years from now, but you will remember the experience.

“Not really worth the hype”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

We stopped here for lunch on our way up to Ke'e Beach, and first off let me say that if you are absolutely starving, do NOT stop here! We were starved and had a half hour wait! The food was pretty average, nothing spectacular. I had the teriyaki burger and my husband had the mushroom. We also ordered a side of onion rings and a Marionberry milkshake. The food is filling and tasty, but if you're in a hurry, go somewhere else. While you wait, you will see lots of roosters and chickens. Also there are no bathrooms.

“Good balance of quality & price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

Needed a burger fix & heard and read about Duane's so thought we'd give it a try - it didn't disappoint. Burgers had a noticeable char-broil taste & were cooked properly (not rare but not hockey pucks either) with the right add on's. Burgers were cut in half and each half was in a paper shell so didn't need a shower afterwards! Fries were pretty standard but onion rings were well above average. Food is either eaten at the picnic tables or as take out.

“YUMMY!! (but dont go when completely starving) & no bathrooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

Really yummy burger place! Try the marionberry shake which is unique - the burgers are delicious but the patties are thin so you might want to get a double patty when you normally wouldn't. Cute chickens, roosters, and baby chicks strutting about the area. I dont eat burgers, so I got the chicken with avocado - SO yummy. My husband LOVED the burgers and found the terriyaki to be really unique and delicious. Also, because food around Hawaii is really pricey, this is a nice break from, well, breaking the bank!

NOTE: they take awhile to make your burgers / sandwiches.. the first time we went, we waited 35 - 40 min after placing our order. Then went during down / slow hours and it took about 15min.

NOTE: There is no bathroom here. Go south along that road for a few miles to Anahola State Park for a bathroom!
