“Nice and Quiet.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2014

The accomodations at this resort was very nice - full kitchen and BBQ helped on days when we didnt feel like eating out. We booked a deluxe accomodation but was on the first floor facing the golf course - we were suppose to be on the third floor but I guess they must have been overbooked. It worked out well anyways. The resort is very quiet and serene. The tram ran frequently and was always on time. Lots to do if you want to stay on the resort but much more crowded than at the HGVC. We drove into town most days and visited the places there - the farmers market had really good food and stuff to buy. This resort is well located to drive into town or to take a trip to Hilo. Check out the Legends of the Pacific Luau - it was really nice and the tram takes you right there. I would agree with the other reviews that the front desk did not provide a lot of direction.

Room Tip: All rooms are very nice as the whole resort is very quiet.

General Manager at this resort needs to invest in a serious Customer Service training course!

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. Please accept my sincerest apologies from myself and on behalf of our management team for not tending to your pest concern in a timely manner. We have had some challenges with facilitating our exterior pest control effectively due to some wet and rainy weather conditions the past months. Please rest assured that our Engineering Department will refocus on our preventive control program and will review any specific rooms that may have listed ant concerns to avoid a recurrence. Thank you again for choosing to stay with us, we hope you will provide us another opportunity to host you the next time you visit Waikoloa!

We spent the week of March 1-8th, 2014 at Kohaula Suites in the HGVC Waikoloa Beach Resorts. We are owners in the HGVC, but not at this resort. We found the resort comfortable, luxurious, and private. We aren't golfers, but if we were, this would be an awesome place to stay. We found the suites to be even more upscale than other resorts we have been to with HGVC. We felt like celebrities in the luxury the suite offered, lol.
If you want to explore the Big Island, you definitely need a car. If you want to golf, lay poolside, and use the amenities of the Hilton Hotel and resort, then the shuttle will serve your purpose. There are also a couple shopping plazas within the Waikoloa Beach Resort complex.
The pool at the Kohala Suites was nice and relaxing. While there were several couples and families using the pool, it didn't feel over crowded. We are a childless couple and the amount of children in the pool area wasn't an issue for us because of the great layout of the area. The water elements around the pool helped to cover up the noise of the pool.
My only issue with the resort was the construction around the hot tub. While the hot tub itself wasn't under construction, they shut down the hot tub because the railing behind the hot tub was removed. We felt there wasn't a need to close the hot tub when only a 3 foot area was under construction. The barrier could have been placed on day one and the hot tub could have stayed open. We really like being in the hot tub so this was an issue for us. Otherwise, this is a top notch resort that couples or families can enjoy. It's a great golf resort, or family resort, or for us, a great couples resort. It accommodates every type of traveler.

This was our first trip to Big Island, after stays on Maui, Kauai and Oahu. WOW!!! For those who love Hawaii this island is a must. And for those looking for quiet, well-appointed comfort in a beautiful setting, Hilton Grand Vacations Club at Waikaloa Beach Resort is also a must!

We arrived late evening and were grateful to have a pleasant, efficient check-in. Our 'deluxe' condo did not disappoint. It was spacious, clean and modern with a fair size lanai. After an exceptionally quite sleep, We awoke the next morning to a magnificent view of the golf course. What a serene setting; palm trees swaying in the breeze, birds chirping, volcanic mountains in the distance - surely a little bit of heaven. Apparently if you book a 'deluxe' unit you will be situated on either a second floor end unit or a third floor inner or middle unit - in all cases you will be on the top floor of the unit layout.

We had daily housekeeping and there was an abundance of towels, beach towels and personal care supplies. The kitchen was adequately provisioned but no salt, pepper or spices - just coffee, sugar and whitener.

There is a pool and hot tub located at the check in centre, along with a pool bar and occasional entertainment. Very nice. Guests can also access the adjoining and affiliated Bay Club facilities by trekking through the parking lot.

The HGVC allows access to the sprawling Hilton Waikaloa Village which is a beachfront hotel with all kinds of amenities, including a protected lagoon, dolphin pool and a variety of shops and dining choices. It is massive in size with paved walking paths and it also has a monorail that traverses end to end of the huge resort. The grounds are nice to explore but we didn't spend as much time there as I thought we would basically because you have to tote all of your stuff (bathing gear, change of clothing, etc.) and there aren't any lockers or proper change rooms for HGVC guests. Also, it's like any other chain beachfront hotel and there are so many more authentic places to hang on this island.

The resort area has an abundance of shops so it's easy to grab groceries or dine at all levels or just shop.

We were able to arrange a late check-out (12:00pm vs. 10:00am), and for those with late evening flights, they will stow your luggage AND provide access to a 'shower' room so you can clean up prior to leaving the resort. Ideal for those wanting a last bit of beach time.

Overall we were very impressed with this resort and would definitely return. Big Island is a marvel with much to explore. One week felt like we only saw the tip of the volcano - the rest of the mountain awaits our return! ;-)

We came with our college daughter during her spring break the last week of February. Check in was very easy and the property was gorgeous. Staff was helpful with things to do and places to go. Kona is about a half hour drive for lots of beach activities and Hilo and the volcano is about a 2 hour drive. Both are easily accessible. Access is also available for the Hilton resort (over the top unbelievable) about a 10 minute walk or 2 minute car ride away. It is well worth going to view, even if you don't use their resources. The scenery and tranquility make this a great place to get away.

HGVC condos on the Big Island are a beautiful, restful, clean, comfortable, gracious, upscale place to launch your Hawaiian vacation. The two-bedroom/two bath units have an elegant master suite complete with jacuzzi tub. But even the guest bedroom, with two beds, is pretty, comfortable, with closet and lots of storage. Two bathrooms (master and extra) mean two couples, or a family, can be very comfortable. The art work is lovely. The living room is large, the kitchen and dining room are completely equipped. Blended Mai Tais anyone? Care to bake a birthday cake? Share a steak dinner?Warm evening breezes after dark on your private balcony? There are 3 televisions in the unit...pretty much everyone can be entertained, if staying in is on your agenda.

The condos are a 5 minute shuttle ride from the fabulous Hilton Waikoloa Beach Hotel and we were able to use all the amenities at the hotel. The accommodations were truly deluxe and daily maid service was included - an exceptional surprise!
