“Why stay at a mega hotel when you can stay here?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013 via mobile

We loved this property...the service was fantastic, it was so clean and well groomed and the rooms were spacious and well appointed. The fitness center located at the adjacent property was clean and loaded with great equipment. ..the pool was nice and not crazy busy like the Hilton so for the price of a regular hotel room no kitchen and no space. ... why not stay here and avoid the crowds, eat your own food to save $$ and use the main Hilton amenities when you feel like it? Unless you absolutely need an ocean view this is the way to go

We loved how big the resort was, it was very well thought out. So many different things to do do. Loved it and strongly recommend! We read complaints about how spread out it was, and we honestly liked that. There was so much that the resort offered. As long as you have a rental car or know how to plan your schedule around the shuttle pick-ups, or don't mind a little walking, you have nothing to worry about.

We had a rental car so we loved taking many off resort excursions we were able to do because of the resorts location on Big Island. Convenient to the airport, Kona, and we didn't mind the two and a half hour drive to volcano national park.

We enjoyed our stay here, the suite was a good size, clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The guest bedroom was too small in proportion to the master suite. We had friends stay with us, and we felt a little guilty that our room was so bright and big and theirs was...not.
There was no real "pampering" while here at this location. We arrived on a Sunday and no one offered to help us with our bags or groceries...we had to go from the parking lot to the elevator to the second floor. There were no luggage carts to be found either which would have been better than making 4 trips up and down to get all of our stuff.
We over-packed! First time trip to Hawaii, so we brought so much we thought we would need. You need 3-4 outfits for the day (sun/beach/boat); some sneakers/socks; and a dress or two for the evening...oh and a few swimsuits! This Hilton Grand Vacation Club had two pools on site within walking distance, but were small and no "poolside service", although the bar(s) were open during certain hours.
There was a shuttle that was available most of the time. The best part was the ability to go to the Hilton Village...either by shuttle or a 1/4 mile walk. It was huge...we only did the end with the lagoon; bar/grill and Dolphin discovery. Very fun day.
We will in the future opt for a location directly on the beach and with much more personal service. The best concierge we had while there was Michelle, she was awesome and full of good information. We did not eat on site...there was no restaurant on the site we were located. We took trips on the shuttle to the Kings and Queens Market, across from each other...lots of options for shopping and eating. We preferred the Queens overall, except for Roy's that was in Kings Market. Waikoloa was a great spot, Hilton Grand Vacations/Waikoloa Beach Club was not the best spot in Waikoloa to be, if you go Hilton, go to the Village, if possible. Honestly go to the Marriott if you can, it is right on the bay and is gorgeous!

Room Tip: We asked for golf or mountain view. We had both, but with a road as well. At times it was a little n...

my girlfriend and I have owned a time share at hilton grand vacation club for the past three years now and its our second year coming here. We stay for three weeks at a stretch. We always find the staff friendly, helpul and very accomadating. We had issuse with the coffee maker and they fixed it right away. the rooms are well furnished with modern kitchens and furniture. We love the big island of hawaii and continue to comeback we love the laid back pace and freedom to explore. the ability to go to the hilton hotel and use their facilities is a plus, warning the hotel is not for the person on a budget everything is expensive. The lagoon is awesome and lets you get your feet wet trying snorkeling and other water sports. The pool at our resort was nice never overly crowded and a lot warmer than the hilton hotel pool.

we are planning our trip back for next year and can't wait.

Room Tip: the ground floor can be nice but on the road side of the buliding can be a little nosie

The condo was great! The maid service was exceptional!! Having full use of the Hilton Hotel property really made our stay! The lagoon at the hotel was awesome for snorkeling. 1 quibble....why are the pools so cold? Both the condo and hotel pool were uncomfortably cold. The ocean was warmer. Make sure you visit the beach at lava lava beach club too.

We visited with friends from college and found it an easy place to share with extended family or friends. The grounds are lovely, the units are clean and have a good floor plan. We really appreciated the in unit laundry facility, the beautiful view and helpful staff.

Room Tip: I think you get good quality and a real vacation with HBVC.

We are a family of 5 and this property was perfect for us, wish we had stayed two weeks. I would arrive dressed for the pool, have a drink and a snack at the pool bar and take in the view if your unit isn't ready yet. The pools/spa aren't super warm, but refreshing. The Hilton Resort Hotel is just a couple minutes by shuttle or car, walking about 15 minutes. Parking validation at the Hotel is a hassle (tip: there's a public lot across the street open 8 am-8 pm). The Hotel Pools are on the chilly side, but the spas are hot, kids love the pool slide. Pool Bar and Lagoon Grill are great, and Pool snacks from the Orchid Marketplace. The Lagoon is o.k. for snorkeling, a variety of fish and turtles, but kind of murky and no coral. We drove to Kahaluu Beach Park for snorkeling one morning after breakfast (tip: pick a day with little or no swell, google Kahaluu surf, and go early). Kids liked Dolphin Quest. The drive over saddle road to the Volcano Nat Park takes 2.5 hours, narrow one way bridges ( up hill side must yield ), roller coaster hills that are likely to make kids car sick, not advisable in wet weather, go on a dry day early, return in mid afternoon. The food court at Queen's Marketplace is a relatively cheap place to eat, I was really looking forward to Ippy's Hawaiian BBQ and it didn't disappoint. The Island Gourmet Market has an ok selection of food. The Market in Waikoloa Village is better, but a 15 minute drive up the hill from Waikoloa Beach. We did the Ocean Sports Whale Watching Breakfast, saw many whales, one of the kids got sea sick, so best to check the swell forecast. The Ocean Sports crew were great, would try their snorkel cruise next time.
