Stayed in the Bay Club with my mom and 10 month old son from 13-18 June. We moved to the HGVC 18-22 June and will review that one next. I arrived at noon and after traveling on my own for 10 hours with my son- I was thrilled to be able to check right into our room. We staid in a 2 bedroom on the 1st floor for 5 nights and moved to a 1 bedroom for 2 nights. The 2 bedroom was HUGE and being on the ground floor was wonderful. We spread a blanket out on the grass for the baby to play at night and really enjoyed being able to pull loungers out into the sun to layout while my sun took his naps. The kitchen was nice- not updated appliances, but we were able to cook all our meals just fine. The bathrooms were nice- both had big tubs with separate showers. Master bathroom had 2 sinks and tons of closet space.
The huge living room and dining room were great for my son to crawl around and play. We were able to use all the pools at the Bay Club and the HGVC-- just not the Hilton Hotel- which was fine. The pools at the Bay Club and HGVC are heated which was WONDERFUL! The cafe is not being used right now and the Bar at the HGVC only sold hot dogs- so we were glad we had rented a car and went to the grocery store twice.
Since we had to move rooms- the staff was very helpful. They will move everything for you- including all the food in your fridge and freezer. The one bedrooms all face the parking lot- and this was a bit of a disappointment after having the great view and accessibility from the 2 bedroom (front desk said all 1 bedrooms face the parking lots). Since we were only in that room 2 nights it wasn't that bad- but I wouldn't rent a 1 bedroom again knowing what I know now.
The one bedroom was large- my mom staid on the pull out couch and actually said it was very comfortable. The master bathroom was big enough for me to put my son's crib and with the natural light, he slept wonderfully.
The staff was great and we only got one phone call when we first checked in asking us to attend a timeshare presentation. Just told them no thanks and they didn't bother us again. Did have some issues with cleanliness-- but all issues were addressed immediately by the staff so not really a big deal to us. The Bay Club is older than the HGVC-- and a great value for people with young children. If you're looking for high end appliances, granite counter-tops and upscale decor- the HGVC is where you should vacation. If you're looking for HUGE square footage and don't mind a more traditional condo feel- the Bay club is worth the money.
One last thing- the Bay Club had tons of BBQ pits which were great for me to cook steaks on. I didn't see as many while we were at the HGVC. There was also a very private hot tub located between buildings 2 and 3 which was right outside our 2 bedroom condo and no one else used it but us the whole stay!!

This is our second stay at the Bay Club with my parents who are owners. Though our first stay was a little more luxourious, we really enjoyed our stay at the Bay Club. The rooms and lanais are extremely spacious and very comfortable. I was disappointed in the condition of the kitchen and bathrooms, but I understand these will be remodeled next year. However, the condition of the bathrooms and kitchen were not horrible and did not detract from the great experience of having three pools to choose from and fantastic free nightly entertainment and activities. The staff was great and helped immediately with whatever we asked. I would definitely choose the Bay Club again (but I do hope they do some improvements on the bathrooms particularly). Our kids enjoyed the pools every day and it was extremely relaxing and beautiful.

“Worst Vacation Experience”

The Bay Club at Waikoloa Beach Resort

We have been HGVC owners for 6 years, and I must say this was our worst vacation. It did not meet my standards, so I don't understand Hilton rated it "Gold Crown".
Our room was large, had new carpet and new furniture. There were more closets than you could use. It had a nice walk-in closet by the front door that we kept empty suitcases & beach bags in. Our bed was comfortable, except the fitted sheets didn't fit, and every morning you woke up with your face on a bare mattress - gross!
The kitchen and bathroom are in dire need of remodeling. We had broken and filthy cabinets (food stuck on the outside) and mildew in the shower. The bathroom faucets were plated brass, at one time. The ceiling of our patio was falling off, so you had to be careful where you sat. The kitchen was missing a lot of basics. I had to call for a dustpan, spatula, kitchen towels, and potholder. The landscaping was...dead. No other way to describe it. Not exactly tropical paradise. Pools were in the parking lot, surrounded by a wrought-iron fence. Want a drink? There are two vending machines at each pool. No food available unless you go to the Hilton Hotel. Want to sleep in? Good luck, every step your upstairs neighbors took, you could hear. We were never able to sleep past 6 am!
The island was great, and we got to experience new things, but we will never be back, and cannot in good conscience recommend this "resort" to anyone.

This is our fifth visit to The Bay Club, we liked it so well
the last four times, we purchased a TS here.
The entire operation has gone upscale with the addition of
the HGVC units. They now have a fancy Uber Hotel registration area.
Everything is in top condition. The original Bay Club units have been redone, and they look great.
This is one of the top TS operations on the BI.

“Disappointing Bay Club at Waikoloa Beach Resort”

We traveled to the Bay Club at Waikoloa Beach Resort in early February. The location was not bad though it is in a high density tourist area.

We were disappointed in the conditions of our bed; the kitchen and bathrooms were just adequate. I often miss my own bed when I travel but when I consider sleeping on the lounge chair on the lanai a better alternative to the mattress in the room, something is really wrong with the bed.

The space of our two bedroom, two bath unit was great. The size of the lanai balcony was impressive. But, the conditions of the furniture and other amenities were disappointing enough that we will not return to stay here again and I could not recommend this property to others.
