“Wonderful resort and excellent renovations.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

We have stayed in the Hilton Waikoloa area many times over the past 10 to 15 years and the Bay Club is overall the best. Units are spacious and the renovations a huge improvement. Facilities are excellent - we hardly need to visit the hotel facilities at all during our time there. Staff is helpful and friendly and the grounds are perfect. Other developments are newer and billed as higher end but really don't offer as much for us. The only downside of the older Bay Club design is the darker entrances and interiors. Also the pools at the Bay Club are more suited to older kids but guests have access to a very kid friendly pool on the property as well (at the Kohala Suites - front desk area) and of course to the Hilton Waikoloa facilities which are amazing and very close to Bay Club. Kingsland has a larger very little kid-friendly pool and a larger more elaborate and beautiful pool bar/cafe area. It is much further away from the Hilton facilities though.

First, let me say we own a small condo in Maui, and I have been all over maui. Never to the Big Island though. After my mom passed last year I REALLY needed some solitude. After Maui for 2 wks hubs went home and my bestie came with me to Waikoloa; this was also a birthday gift to her. This is a beautiful property, beautiful inside and out. As some have stated, yes-a drive to pretty much ANYwhere for activities. But I was here to just R-E-L-A-X, and I did.I asked for ground floor, got it, right next to the quiet pool. I say quiet because for our week trip here there was maybe a total of 5 peple max at this pool on any given day :) NICE. I walked every morning, also strolled thru the giant HGVC at the big Hilton one morning, (and THAT in itself was a major workout-don't think I would ever want to stay there.) Anyway, our unit was a lovely 1bdrm, w sofa-sleepr in liv room, newly re-furbished, everything completey modern, no- we didn't watch tv at all.and yes, wi-fi, was very iffy, and didnt' work well. But I wasnt there to "wi-fi". We were out every day, sometimes just by the pool. Hula show one nt, they also had a poolside cafe/bar near the larger pool by the office. Staff was so friendly and accommodating. We were going to the volcano one day, but when I was half way there, found out how much firther it was and so we turned around and went other places. Stayed in Kona our 1st night, before Waikoloa, very humid there, (not as nice as I had heard it to be). Would go back and stay at this resort in a heartbeat-we traded our timeshare thru RCI. was NOT disappointed.

Room Tip: Views prob better from upper unit, but we needed ground, and were more than happy that it was adjace...

My husband and I have stayed at this property 5 times over the past 10 years. It was remodeled and completed in 2012. The condo's are very spacious and the outdoor lanais are awesome. They are on golf course with a nice open view. 2nd and 3rd floors have a distant view of the ocean in buildings 1 - 4. There are two pools. Nothing fancy but clean and well kept up. Plenty of BBQ to cook at and 2 hot tubs. The proximity of the property is what we love. There is shuttle that has a route to the Hilton and 2 shopping malls. There is a beach a mile away within the resort that is great for kids. very calm, quite and just lovely to read if thats is your thing. The sunsets there are awesome as well. And your a morning walker than you will be in heaven. The sidewalks are just great for walking. I love it. We would highly recommend this area for a family or romantic vacation.

We stayed here for a week and were pleased with it. The interior was new and in impeccable condition. There is a nice gym and there are three pools spread throughout the village. There is a business center where you can print documents for free. Its walking distance to the Hilton, where they have the start of the fisherman’s walk (hike) along the lava flows up the coast. There are BBQ’s next to each building that all work very well. Only complaint is that all the one bedrooms face the parking lot. Nothing like kicking back with a beer watching the cars come and go.

Room Tip: If you ask for an upgrade (and pay) for an upgrade to a two bedroom from a one bedroom, you should h...

We always stay at the Hilton Bay Club. Service at check in is outstanding. The rooms are top notch. Granite counters through out. When we checked in they noticed it was my husbands birthday and a bottle of champagne was at the room waiting for us by the time we stepped through the door.

Room Tip: Its hard to get a bad suite. No matter if the top floor or bottom they have all been great rooms.

This was our first time at this location, and we found it to be very nice, clean and comfortable. The bed was a little too soft for our taste, but otherwise the condo was just right. The property is an older one, but it continues to be maintained and updated as well. New appliances are being installed this year. The other guests were generally older retired couples, but more families may stay during school breaks. The staff was very friendly and planned activities for the community. Very relaxing and quiet.

There are 3 pools, exercise room, tennis courts, wifi, computer room (no charge), golf course is walking distant and other activities. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's like being in your own apartment with all the amenities you need except for a fireplace. The kitchen is full equipped except for spices. There is a BBQ for you to cook. It was great to be on your own patio and dine. If you don't want to cook there are places to eating at all different level of prices but you need to drive to explore. You can walk or there is a shuttle to get around if you don't want to drive around. The weather is comfortable and no mosquitoes. They have Happy Hours and activities if you want. The master bedroom was large with it own bathroom. The 2nd bedroom was medium. There is a queen sofa for two for people. There was free safe to use. This was a family vacation with older children. They did their beach activities and we relaxed at the pool or went sightseeing. We have stayed at this resort four time over a span of 10 years. It has not disappointed us. They are constantly keeping it updated and expanding.
