“80 and Sunny Everyday!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

We love this place! Let me say we may be somewhat biased as we own a rental property in Waikoloa Beach Villas. There are many options here for lodging - condos on the golf course, condos on the ocean and Hilton and Marriott Hotels. I might mention that the condos are often much cheaper than the hotels and much more space for families or extended stays.
There are two shopping venues in the resort featuring a variety of upscale shops and restaurants.
With the wide tree lined walkways through the resort, pretty much everything is within walking distance.
There is a great beach, also called A-Bay within the resort. A nice sand beach with very little surf. Sun and shade are both available at this beach. This is a great spot to watch wind surfers or see the sea turtles that come up on the shore to sun themselves.
There is also a great new family friendly bar/restaurant located right on the beach- Lava Lava Beach Club. Nice addition to the beach.
If you want a bigger beach , you are only a few minutes from Hapuna State Park Beach. Voted by Travel & Leisure magazine as one of the top 5 family beaches in the US.
There are two beautiful golf courses within the resort also. hawaiigolfcondo is along the Beach Course. The Kings Course is also quite beautiful and a little cheaper to play than the Beach Course. Both are quite reasonable however as resort guests.
Some people may be put off by the moonscape appearance of all the lava fields surrounding the lush surroundings of the resort. We like the variety of Eco systems on the island. Waikoloa Beach Resort sits in a desert pocket of the Kohala Coast, which means they get about 10 inches of rain a year. This is good news for those planning a sunny beach vacation!

“The Shores at Waikoloa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

Lovely condo resort run by Aston. Beautiful grounds and pools.
We rented direct with owner through vrbo.com (Vacation Rentals By Owner) and have used vrbo many times, they are worldwide, and we have been very happy with all of the condos we have stayed in and saved many $s this way.

The Shores at Waikoloa is close to 2 large shopping centers and restaurants, a beach and trailside walk. About a 10 minute drive north is another lovely large bay, A little further north are several big hotels with beach restaurants and public beaches.

You do need a car on the Big Island.

The west side of the Big Island boasts that they have the best weather in Hawaii, and we had glorious weather all week long.

“Fun Family Destination”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

We live on the Big Island but spent a day at the resort with my son and his fiance last fall. A Kamaaina rate for a room turned out to be cheaper than buying the ticket for four at the pool and waterslide. You also have a great pool to snorkel in, optional dolphin experience (that's extra), multiple dining options and fabulous art and statues around the resort.

My son and his fiance took the room and said it was like spending the day at a theme park (Pacific Ocean Theme Park).
If you have kids of any age..they'll love the water boats that take you to your rooms. The water slide is great. The pools are large.
A second time (when I took clients out to eat) I left my camera bag (kept the camera ) in the water boat and didn't realize until AFTER we were done eating. The clients were not too worried until I suggested that we would be hitch hiking home since the car keys were in the camera bag. One of the employees was still running the boat when we returned and she REMEMBERED ME! She had taken the bag to security and gave us rides around the resort until security came up with my bag. That's the ALOHA spirit that makes one love the islands. Although other resorts may be "higher end" this one is my favorite on the Big Island for families. The prices are relatively reasonable for resorts. Great Swimsuit shopping at the mall on site. Try renting a condominium for a week if you have kids. Aloha!

“Nice rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

The rooms were nice and comfortable. I didn't like hearing the people tromping around all day and night above us. Both our room and our parents experienced a lot of nise from above.

Lots to see and do. Fantastic places to stay and eat and the best snorkel beaches! This is considered dessert area-so dress for warm/hot conditions.
