“Fantastic place to have a meal and watch the sunset”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2014

This place is right on the beach and very scenic. They usually have live music. I like watching the waves come in while listening to pleasant music and drink a Kona Fire Rock.

“Great place on the beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Loved the couches on the beach right next to the surf. Sunset is awesome here. Even though it was packed on the Friday night we were there, the service was still impeccable.

What a great setting! Right on the beach. Casual but very good food and service. We're thrilled we found this place. If you're looking for a place with a beach front setting with great views and good food this is your place

“Relaxed, simple and great lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2014

This was our last meal on the Big Island before a flight. Chose it because
of great reviews, and they were not wrong. Simple food, fresh, quick and
very very enjoyable. Wonderful flavours and fresh fish, got to eat fresh
fish at this type of place. Really nice to enjoy good food and sit at watch
time go by next to the sea. Certainly not formal, and that's what we really
liked about the place. Very creative in the presentation, the bill gets
presented in a book (a novel or tour guide book) . Well worth a visit, would
be top of my list to revisit, wish we found it sooner.

“Relaxed, on-the-water setting!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2014

It's official- if I could just "live" at a restaurant, this would be the one. We went to Lava Lava after reading other Trip Advisor reviews on it while staying at the Hilton Waikoloa Village. We took a taxi over there from the Hilton because we weren't in the mood to walk across hill and dale (and beach). It's an open air restaurant set right on the beach at "A" Bay (long Hawaiian name). They have some tables under cover and some under the trees, along with nice outdoor couches and chairs for lounging. You could walk to edge of the beach and step into the ocean, watch the crabs scurry, etc. This kept our 11 year old busy for a good while.

The food was good. It's casual stuff, but tasted fresh and good. We went mid-afternoon on a Saturday and they had a good crowd. They had live music and the singer was quite talented. The breeze was blowing. If there had been a hammock, I would have just crawled in and stayed.

To me, this was the ultimate drinking and eating experience in Hawaii- on the water. Any time is a good time to be there- you can wait for sunset, but any time will do. I highly recommend it.
