Description: Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant, located in the quiet village of Volcano, sits on 5 acres of gardens and gazebos and native forest. This hotel restaurant features a large fireplace, local art, koa tables, and is open nightly. Chef/owner Albert Jeyte blends flavors from his European background with farm, ranch and seafood products from Hawaii, the surrounding Pacific and elsewhere. Volcano Village is at 3700 feet elevation and evenings are often cool and misty. The historic fireplace welcomes guests with it's cheery fire. Home made soups and breads tease the appetite. Albert specializes in unusual game...venison, antelope, rabbit, duck. The biggest sellers are local fish dishes; ahi, ono, mahimahi and the exotic Tristan lobster. A large wine list complements the eclectic menu.

“You have to come. You just have to”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012 via mobile

There are lots of out of the way places that are reasonable and good but very few that are reasonable and great. The owner is a French trained chief and his menu changes every day. My wife is having rack of lamb and I am having a German sausage plate. They also have duck, Mahi Mahi, lobster, Surf and turf and the list goes in. Meals are In the $30 range and include fresh baked bread, soup or sald and an entree that will be difficult to finish and then comes the desserts ( sorry, extra). They also do wine pairings but they also have good house wines

These folks serve three meals a day and they are all top notch so when visiting the Volcano, drive 2 miles into the village and try this. Call for reservations

“Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

The food was absolutely amazing! It was an unexpected surprise since Volcano is such a small, remote village. My husband and I both agreed that both of our meals there were some of the best food we've had at restaurants. Having traveled in North America, Europe and Asia, I think that says something!

“Looks are deceiving”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

So we decided to try this place one night after a day at the Volcano. At first site it was a cute cozy restaurant, and we had a table by a wonderfully warm crackling fire. Service was attentive, but thats about all the good I can say. First off if you order any type of soda, you get one glass, there are no refills here, but the do free refills on the iced tea. My husband tried the fish special which was ono, with a chutney on it, it looked wonderful but then you tasted it and it just had a strange taste, the portion was also very small for the price you pay here. I had the surf and turf, I will say the lobster was decent very buttery which was nice, but also very small. The other half of my dinner was terrible a grey piece of meat they called a strip steak,a nd it tasted like it looked bland and just yucky. This was by the second most expensive meal we had our whole trip and the worst as well, steer clear and try some place else.

“Don't miss this!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

On your next trip to the Big Island of Hawaii, don't miss Vocano National Park, and the delightful restaurant only a few miles away from the park entrance in the small village of Volcano, Hawaii.
The ambience, cuisine, and service is the best I have found on numerous trips to the Big Island.
