“Not at all bad for vegetarian.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2014

I'm surprised at the recent reviews; we felt that it deserved its #1 rating -- in a village with only a half-dozen dining choices. We lunched on the vegetarian chili and the cheese/spinach quiche; both were tasty and filling. The waitress was very cordial, and gave us great directions to the thermal pools on the south-east shore. The attached gallery is stocked with some beautiful items, many made and/or designed by the equally cordial Mr. Ono. Don't forget to say "hi" to Ernest, the playful billy-goat in the back yard.

“Bland and not grand”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2014

I was anxious to give this place a try after we were told about the place. The comments about the restaurant 'not having much flavor' is far truer than the other comments. It was over priced and about as flavorful as placing vegetables in a microwave. There is a Thai food truck right outside and to the left that was far better.

I was saddened Lydia D. did not have a positive lunch as anyone who consults tripadvisor can see her experience was the exception. All our food is made from scratch using the freshest farm produce one can find here on the Big Island of Hawaii. All of our entrees are $15 and under and include an organic salad and homemade soup. I feel our prices are quite fair and we choose to allow our customers to add salt, pepper or Tabasco sauce as needed. Vegetarian food does not have to be spicy hot to be appreciated. Comparing our dining experience with a food truck on the street is not a fair comparison.

“Not much flavor”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2014

We may be from Washington and Oregon, but we are not big vegetarian fans. I thought the place was a little bland. The location is nice, but the food was a disappointment.

“Delightful, fresh and friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

My husband and I decided to try this place out after reading about it in Lonely Planet. We are so glad we did! First off, the property and gallery are delightful. The garden eating area is a wonderful place to have a quiet lunch. We ended up eating inside with our infant daughter and had a nice chat with our friendly waitress. The food was excellent - simple and fresh. It was the best meal we'd had in days and I thought it wasn't very expensive for the quality. The owner gave us some quick tips on the next part of our trip while we were exploring the garden and saying hello to the goat. All in all, it was a great lunch!
