“A must if you like botanical gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2013

Surprisingly this was one of our favorite things we did on the island of Hawaii. The drive to the garden alone is worth it. The road to the garden is off the main road and is on a very narrow scenic road. If you have any health issues preventing you from walking steep hills, you can pay $5 for a round trip golf cart ride. Well worth it!!!

“Worth the Cost”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2013

This is an exquisite botanical garden, beautifully maintained. The trail meanders down a hill and ends with beautiful views of the coast. There are a number of little detours that take visitors through beautiful forest, past a huge variety of tropical flowers, and even to some extremely picturesque waterfalls. My only complaint about this otherwise delightful botanical garden is that it includes a cage with some very unhappy parrots who would clearly like to be free. It made me very sad to see them hanging on to the cage walls, trying to peck their way out.

“Worth the stop if on that side of the island”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013

This is a very nice botanic garden (yes botanic not botanical as most botanic gardens wrongly use :)). The tropic plans are well cared for but some of the features are not that great, e.g., lilly pond and bird house. The walk will take about an hour and the entrance and exit are a bit steep if you are very out of shape; most people should not have a problem. If you are handicapped they to provide a cart to shuttle you to the bottom and bring you back up again. Once down by the water, everything is relatively easy walking. The fee was $15. I would go back again if I had someone who had never been, but not worth repeating otherwise.

“Good but nothing too special”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2013

Hawaii has so many natural plants and trails your not getting much out of going to this place. There is a trail on side of road before you get to botanical garden which is probably just as good and free.
