“Kona Coffee”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

The experience of the farm tour for this location is educational and interesting. It is a free tour of the farm and the coffee processing facility with a bit of history of the farm, all about the coffee and other items grown on the farm and very interesting. The tour is conducted in a very casual and no rush manner with plenty of time for questions and fascinating facts about the processing and growing of Kona coffee and what separates it from other coffees in the world. The tour guides are all farm employees with an in depth knowledge of the overall process and are friendly and warm about sharing their knowledge with us. There was no push to sell coffee - though it is available to purchase and no herding large groups of tourists from one area to the next - just very laid back and fun.

“Coffee with Aloha at Greenwell Farms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

As frequent visitors to the Big Island, we decided to drop in on Greenwell Farms, just to do something new on our holiday.

As soon as we drove up to the parking lot, Daniel, one of Greenwell’s tour guides, warmly greeted us and offered us and another couple a free tour of the farm.

As we toured the grounds, he gave us a short history of the farm, showed us the pioneer coffee trees, explained the growing, harvesting process, let us taste fresh coffee beans and happily answered all our questions.

We enjoyed our short time with Daniel so much that we decided to return again when a friend would be visiting us from the mainland.

After our tour, we sampled the many types of coffee. My husband Ed was impressed with the Private Reserve so we bought a few bags. Then Daniel came by with a huge avocado he’d found on the grounds and gave it to us. What a lovely gesture! It was delicious btw.

When we dropped by again a week later we took the tour again with the equally excellent Jonelle. As this was a big group this time, the tour took longer and I was delighted how no two tours were the same. Jo covered different aspects of the farm from Daniel, and it was thoroughly insightful as well.

Tips
• Drop by anytime from 8.30am – 4.40pm. If a tour guide is available, he/she will take you on a short tour, no bookings necessary!

• Lots of fruit trees grow on the farm. If it’s ripe and ready, visitors are welcome to help themselves to them. (What fun!)

• Look out for the beautiful chameleons that make their home on the lime trees. Mahalo Daniel for finding one for me to adore!

• If you’re hungry, nearby is the Manago Hotel with their fabulous pork chops!

Mahalo Daniel, Jo & Greenwell Farms!

“A short story about coffee beans.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

This is a nice short tour of the grounds and the process of growing Kona coffee beans. There's a nice shop for purchases afterward and free tastings of all their different roasts. Definitely worth the stop!

“Great Place for a Kona Coffee Tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

As soon as we approached the main area with coffee sampling, we were warmly greeted, offered coffee samples & told when the next tour would be. Our tour guide was very friendly, informative, and willing to answer questions. We were even allowed to take home some of the avocados that were ripe and fell off the trees (they were very good). There were at least 6 different kinds of coffee to sample, which were excellent. The coffee was pricey but the best we've ever had outside of Europe and we heard the same from the people we gave the coffee as gifts to. We wish they would have shown the roasting facility on the tour, but otherwise we highly recommend Greenwell Farms.

“Nice way to spend an hour!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

7 varieties of free sampling of their wonderful coffee and a free 20 minute tour! Great way to see how cherries are picked and brought in the sacks for drying. Greenwell provides unroasted beans to Starbucks and Caribou as a piece of trivia.
