When we arrived at the original Jo-Jo's (not to be confused with Jo-Jo's Clubhouse shave ice, down the road) it was hard to tell if they were even open, but thankfully they were. There was only one person working so it was a bit of a wait but it was worth it. I had lilikoi (passion fruit) and mango with a scoop of mac nut ice-cream and it was heaven on a hot day. The flavors I ordered were supposed to be a combo with guava but guava, among a few others, was out that day. The end product was delicious so I didn't care.
The ice was perfectly fluffy and light. If you haven't had Hawaiian shave ice, please try it. It's nothing like the chunky, solidified snow cones you get on the mainland. Prices are reasonable and if you head out around the corner, there is a little beachy park area with picnic benches where you can sit and enjoy your treat.
This place is a little rough around the edges but the shave ice can't be beat.
