“Uncleaned toilet”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2015

On one hand, this is an inexpensive motel and you wouldn't expect a lot at this price point. In some rooms are noisy groups, in others are apparently people staying at the motel long term. I would have given the Country Lodge 3 stars except that upon check-in, the toilet in our unit had poop in the bowl above the water line and under the seat. Not brown stains, but actual blobs of poop. Pretty gross.

I think they need some competition in this price range! I loved Waimea but did not enjoy sleeping at the Lodge. First impression was not good. The lamp shade was dirty and stained as was the upholstered chair. Bedspread was the type that camouflages the dirt and was dark and dated. I pulled it right off and found the sheets were soiled, too. Carpet was old and dirty. We were on ground floor and woke up during night to thumping of guests above.
Beware: Small 2"X2" label posted at bottom left corner of bathroom mirror states that linens and towels are changed every 3 days (which only served to make me wonder if the bed had been changed from previous guest). No mention of this was made at check in and no "green" conservation cards were displayed in room. There were no towels in room when we arrived so I know we had clean ones because I got them from housekeeping. I wore flip flops in the tub. It was either stained or dirty.
On a positive note, the towels were thick and nice and the water was hot. Shower curtain was clean. Other than tub, bathroom surfaces were clean. The staff was friendly and complimentary coffee was offered in the office. The location is great. It is within walking distance of shopping and restaurants.

Room Tip: Ask if any available rooms have been recently renovated and are on second floor

I enjoyed my stay in large superior room with kitchenette. I was very satisfied, and the only problem was noisy neighbors in the middle of the night. I would appreciate wifi, but it was no problem to walk a block to a coffee shop.

After reading the reviews I was quite worried about staying here for 1 night before the Cherry Blossom Festival. Although this is not the type of place that you want to hang around & relax in there really isn't anything out & out wrong with it. We stayed in what they call a superior room. At first glance I was not impressed. However, on closer look the carpet & bathroom counter
top were new, everything was freshly painted, and there were very nice toiletries in the bathroom. They had just not used top of the line products in their renovations. The room was also very large & had 2 additional cushioned chairs to relax in.

The front desk person also was very nice about letting us park for the day to attend the festival after we had checked out. This was a really big perk because parking was at an absolute premium that day.

Prices are very high in Hawaii so it was nice to have 1 fairly inexpensive night during our trip.

Although the room was aged and the water system sometimes not hot ... still the location in comfortable Hill side Waimea and wonderful friendly people who worked there coupled with the tourist friendly prices made this experience very positive ... definitely not a 4 star accommodation but there are times when 2 or 3 stars do fine and you live to spend more later .. Personally I would and do recommend the place for people seeking reality instead of opulence as from here you can access the most fantastic beaches and Resorts bu not have to pay 4 Star prices... units are big , clean , with comfortable beds , well stocked with pots and cutlery and soap for dishes , ample parking and quiet place on a main road with many shops , restrauants and supermarket near by ...

Room Tip: generally all similar I guess

Price matters...so we opted for this property for an overnight place to stay while we were in town for funeral services.

Your standards for a dump will be redefined once you checkin.

The service was minimal. The front desk was terse with limited hours of service.

A roach...a cranky guest next door...and a poorly maintained facility...all that was missing was the hooker at the curb.

There is no value here. Do yourself a favor...spend a little more.

I work in the airline industry...I'll be adding this to my oh-no category.

Yes, this property is old and seventies but it is kept scrupulously clean and the warm service provided by Doreen was a delight. True Hawaiian welcome and hospitality; I felt honored. My stay was in June so it is telling that I still wanted to write this review (it is now September) to bring some credit to good old fashioned service and warmth. Doreen is a treasure and made the stay a real lovely experience.

Room Tip: Upstairs are quieter with more privacy and windows look to the mountains across an open field.
