“Great lunch venue”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014

We travelled to waimea for lunch and were referred to Pau for lunch by a local couple. The place is very cute in the back of the property that also houses Merriman's -a much more upscale place.
The food was fresh, organic and well prepared. We had chicken Caesar salad and a delicious turkey, ham, cheese and smothered onion panini....there is no table service. The place is better known for its pizza, which we didn't have.

“Highly Recommended For Price and Quality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014

This was a very pleasant surprise on the Big Island where sometimes food can be expensive and disappointing. This was neither. They serve a $9 three slice pizza with salad special. The food was excellent and we also each had very good wines by the glass. We will be returning and we are recommending this to the guests at our Mauna Lani villa.

Been eathing here for 4 years.
Pizza is good but not in same league as Underground Pizza.
Salads are fresh and delicious, especially "Vinters"
Turkey burger is great.
Deserts are yum.
Casual and pleasant.

“Friendly people but subpar food.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2014

I thought I never met a pizza I didn't like until I came here. The ingredients on the menu sounded terrific, but my first bite into the cardboard crust totally took me back. I looked behind the counter where they were making pizza, and observed pizza crusts stacked up like little flying saucers. Apparently they cook the crust first and stack them into a pile. When you pick your ingredients they take these precooked crusts, put on your desired ingredients and cook them. This results in a very undesirable crust.

“nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2014

I should be grateful that any restaurants are open on Sunday in Waimea, but unfortunately, Pau was nothing special. Maybe it's best to go with the pizza here (everyone else in the room had ordered it) because the fresh fish was overcooked, the pasta primavera was without taste and the rustic tart for dessert didn't have much taste of fruit. For the price, not a good value.
