“Coolest thing I've ever done!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2014

Wow! Went yesterday on the Big Island tour with my husband. Absolutely, hands down, the coolest thing I have ever had the pleasure of doing. Would give it five stars... Except the tour advertised as 2 hours flying time is actually 90 minutes flight time. And, we weren't told about the first-class option to get front seat views. For about $60 extra per person, we would have totally paid it to get front row seating! When you are paying over $1000 anyway for 2 people, what's an extra $100ish fee!

I have never been on a helicopter before, and this one was amazing. Quiet, steady, lots of windows, and the BI certainly provides the awe-inspiring scenery.

I am a slightly motion sick person, so I did take the advice of another review and took Dramamine. I am glad I did - the helicopter is steady and moves smoothly but turns a lot of circles over key sights so all passengers can get great views and photos. These little spins would have made me nauseous, so very glad I bought the Dramamine.

It was recommended to us to take the 7:30am tour, and I am glad we did. The clouds and haze forms over the Hilo side of the island and would have obstructed our extremely clear view we were fortunate to have in the morning hours.

This operator has a 100% safety record. Only flys Eco-star helicopters, which are the nicest version. It's certainly pricey at $510pp, but absolutely worth every penny.

Extremely well organized, very informative tour by pilot that explains the landscape below, excellent equipment (we chose ecostar helicopter) and good fun. Highly recommended.

“Awesome Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

We were apprehensive due to the price but it was well worth it once we got to see the volcanos and waterfalls from the air. Our pilot was knowledgeable and skilled. If you have the chance to take this tour you really should do the "2 hour" trip. Make sure that when you make your reservation they have your proper weight for fuel purposes and you will be weighed prior to takeoff to confirm. The person who made our reservation decided to shave 35 lbs off the collective weight that we told her and we nearly got bumped off the trip. Thank goodness they had a last minute cancellation.

“Great experience - great views!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2013

We took the 2 hour trip to see the active volcano area, and were so glad we did this! We lucked out and got a beautiful day. The pilot gave everyone great views, slowing down so you could get your pix of everything. The moon-like landscape is breathtaking. We then flew along the coastline, and next flew into the Kohala mountain canyons, to see waterfalls and cliffs - that, too, was breathtaking and beautiful. This was an unforgettable ride, and the best thing we did on our trip to Hawaii.

“Best experience on the island”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

We went on the 1:45hr trip over the volcano and along the coast - it was out of this world and worth the trip to Hawaii!

We were in the back of the helicopter but still had amazing views, the pilot took his time to make sure everyone on both sides of the helicopter got to see everything. The pilot was really informative and obviously loved his job (who wouldn't!).

The ground staff were really safety conscious and friendly - there was a small child on our trip and they took great care and patience with him to make sure he was ok.

Really couldn't compliment enough - not cheap but worth it for an experience of a lifetime!
