I've had dozens of good dinners at Merriman's over the last ten years but last night's was exceptional. We started with the pork belly appetizer which was all that pork fat should be--unctuous, melting, intensely flavored. For the main, I had lamb: two chops, tender and perfectly medium rare, over rustic kabocha pumpkin pappardelle, with chard, mushrooms and pan juices. It was divine. With a bottle of Oregon Domaine Droughin pinot, the dinner was perfect.
