“Sweet ride”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2013

First time to the big island and we wanted to head to waipio valley. We decide to horseback riding instead of four wheel trip. We decide on Na'alapa stables and what a great choice. The horseback riding was 2.5 hrs which does seem long but it covers a lot of the valley. Keoni and the other two ladies(didn't catch their names)were really informative of valley. They also emphasise safety but also had fun time riding. Horses and the stables are well maintained. The van that takes you down into the valley; which is driven by Keoni, made the ride down more enjoyable then terrifying. Thanks a million.

“Tons of fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

This was one of the most fun things I did on my trip to Hawaii. I had never been horseback riding before, but the horses were mostly idiot-proof and easy to learn to ride. The guide was great and the scenery was amazing. Being on horseback was a great way to take in the scenery, and it was a lot of fun!

“we had so much fun.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

This was my big thing I really wanted to do and we just loved it. Our guides were so helpful and nice. Took group photos for us, picked fresh star fruit and avocados to eat. Just a great experience and the horses were awesome! Tell Waka Aloha and Mahalo from me.

“Fun way to spend the morning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

This was a brilliant morning. Most of our group had little or no riding experience but the horses know exactly where they are going and the guides are both great fun and really safety conscious. The valley is beautiful and clopping gently along is the perfect way to see it. Going on this trip also means that you dont have to negotiate the absolutely terrifying road down into the valley - blood curdling in a van and I suspect torture on foot - on the way up anyway. Thanks guys, we had a blast.

Rental car companies don't allow their cars into the valley for just that reason! Glad to hear you had a great time!

“Great way to see Waipo Valley”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

Had a great time with the Na'alapa Stables doing a horseback ride into the Waipo Valley. We loved that it is family run and the guides are knowledgable and have lived in the area for a long time. Even with 4WD, you don't want to drive this road. At a 25% grade, it's best to leave it to people that drive it everyday. Waipo Valley has an interesting history and though the waterfalls were not visible because of a drought even though everything else is green, it's still a fantastic ride. We went through a river, saw wild horses and lots of beautiful plants.

We completely agree that the best way to see the valley is on horseback where you hear the rustling of the trees, the clip clop of the horses hooves and stream running through the valley. Mahalo to you for pointing it out!
