“Great local restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

Small cafe in town where the owner (Jolene) greets you, waits on you, and serves up some really good food. I'd definitely return here for a meal.

“OK food, fair service, less than good restroom”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

Title says it all. "Real" Hawaiian food was OK. Service was desultory at best. Ladies did not appreciate the rest room.

“local eats”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

After out horseback ride we asked for a recommendation for a local lunch and were told Jolene’s in town. Place is nothing to look at, plastic patio furniture, but we decide the specials looked pretty good so we give it a try. We got a Korean rib and chicken dish and Katzu chicken, teriyaki beef, and shrimp tempura dish. Not very good for you but pretty damn tasty. And hey they came with side salads so it can’t be that bad for you? Cash only - not a bad meal for a pretty good price.

“If you want to go where the locals go, try Jolene's”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012

We almost didn't go to Jolene's, but I saw it in the Frommer's guide after we passed it and we decided to give it a try. It does look a little cluttered, worn and dingy, but we were the only tourists in the place and I think that's always a good sign that you are eating like the locals, which I like to do when I travel. My older son and I had plate lunches of fresh mahi-mahi and chicken teriyaki. Both were very good with fresh green salad and rice. My husband and younger son had burgers and they enjoyed them as well. Prices were very reasonable. This was a good find.

“A little Scary...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2012

Stopped for Lunch. Table cloth was old and stained with ground in dirt. The decor was over done with tons of fake flowers, some of which looked like they had not been cleaned in a long time. I had a ham and cheese sandwich that was quite tasty, tropical juice drink that was lacking in flavor. Hubby had a bacon cheeseburger that was difficult to eat; bun was soggy and fell apart, bacon was inedible shoeleather. He had to use a fork to eat the burger but could only choke down half of it... The french fries were cooked nicely but were totally tastless. The waitress was a sourpuss; I had to ask her twice 'where was the restroom', a sign on the door says employees only. The smell of old urine in the restroom was nasty, it was dirty and cluttered with storage and had no soap for washing the hands, also it was boy/girl same room. A California health department would shut this one down for deep cleaning.
