Our first four days on the Big Island were spent at Waianuhea, and what a great choice. Personable staff, terrific and well presented breakfasts, a lovely wine and hors d'ouevre hour and a beautiful setting were perhaps THE highlight of our varied 16 day Hawaii adventure. Looking in one direction from their property will give you views of Mauna Kea, and the other, the blue Pacific (with cattle grazing in between). Make sure you have good directions (a GPS helps) and try to arrive in daylight as you may find yourself second guessing your navigator--the final few miles are narrow, steep and sometimes rough. Once you've arrived, however, you'll forget all about that and revel in the tranquil beauty of this place.
