My husband and I spent 4 wonderful days at this B&B. Room was spacious, nicely decorated and very clean. As others have mentioned Lonn is a great cook and we cannot agree more with it. Of course I the review will not be complete without mentioning Lonn's wonderful coffee. Also, Lonn is a great person to consult about things to do on Big Island. Oh and did I mention the beautiful view of the ocean from the room and the jacuzzi!

Lonn the resident owner has lived on the Big Island since 1974. He built the house himself and planted and tends the 500 coffee plants on the property. We heard wild pig and turkeys and saw pheasants. The property is comfy and beautiful, we felt at home. Lonn should be proud of this place! Ask about the prints in the room and be sure to check out the big book on the coffee table in the sitting area. Doogie the dog and Knucklehead the cat had the best New Years ever with us. I was worried Knucklehead might OD from the Ahi but she survived. Thanks Lonn for your hospitality, friendship, your cooking tips and for putting together this slice of paradise. The breakfasts were outstanding, Lonn is and was a chef. The Portuguese sweetbread French toast and carmelized apples with pecans, the spanish omelet with homemade chorizo and the crispy fried potatoes, the quiche and the fresh squeezed oj from the trees on the property. The cup of Kona joe ala Lonn Valdez still lingers in my mind. (We were there for three days!) Stay here, you will love it!

This was the first location of three stops for my wife and I on our honeymoon. If I had to book my trip again, I would never have left. I don't have a lot of B&B experience but all the other bed and breakfast locations that I have been to don't compare to this place (We also stayed at the Volcano Teapot for a night and Waterfalls Inn). My wife and I felt very comfortable at this place. Lonn was a great host and an even better cook. I went from a coffee habit of maybe one cup a week to three everymorning with breakfast. His home grown coffee and fruit were delicious (I am craving that 'Farmer Amour'). Upon request he also made us some amazing fried rice omlettes and told us some of his cooking secrets. Feeling homesick for our dog, Lonn even let us take lil' Doog to the beach for an afternoon, plus Knucklehead was always around looking for trouble and an ear scratch. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great B&B with a Great Host!

We just returned from a 10-night stay on the Big Island. We stayed at the Hale Hualalai for 3 nights, and we loved it! We had never stayed at a B&B before this, and I was a little apprehensive, but this place was great, and it set a very high standard for us in B&Bs.

The views are incredible. Lonn is a terrific host, and his breakfasts are so good. He gave us good information about where to snorkel. There are beach mats and a cooler in the unit, and as we were leaving to snorkel one day, he brought out a boogie board for us to use while we were there.

There is a private lanai in each unit (2 units in all). The bathroom is very nice with a stone floor, stone shower, and private toilet room. There is a stereo with Hawaiian CDs.

This is a very good place to stay if you're planning on doing a lot of snorkeling/water activities. It's only about 10-15 minutes to the water and Kona activities/restaurants.

We were very satisfied with our stay at the Hale Hualalai and would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone.
