“a hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2014

The food is fresh , organic, and delicious. Great place for lunch. A diverse menu ranging from pancakes, homemade pumpkin soup, to a pile of pulled pork on a homemade corn muffin ! Salads were excellent.

“Nice place for brunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014

We found this restaurant last year when we were in Kona and enjoyed so much we returned this year. The restaurant is in the quite artist town of Holualoa and located in a garden setting. The menu is focused on fresh island ingredients. This has become our favorite place for brunch. I had the frittata and my wife had the huevos rancheros. Both were very good. The wait staff is very friendly and accommodating.

“Lovely evening after the rains”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

Within the Hulualoa "artist colony" and the heart of Kona coffee growing country is arguably the best eating venue in the Islands. Our friend, a Gormet of some repute, had found this place a few years ago and returned often. We joined he and his wife, at an outdoor table (all outdoor) under the sweeping open roof lines, far above the Ocean, where a light sweater is in order for evening dining. Three had the Mahi Mahi special plate -- a gorgeous presentation, and delicious as well. I had rib eye steak, grilled to mouth watering perfection, with delicious accompaniments. Wine list is international and fairly priced, although high quality of wines means not inexpensive. We shared a wonderfully crisp and lemony Chablis and a rich and fruity Valpollacella superior. Generous portions and delicious food caused us not to save room for the exquisite deserts they offer. This is a truly romantic and dream like location, worthy of the most auspicious of occasions.

“Completely uneven experience...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2014 via mobile

The atmosphere is gorgeous. Mosquitos and frogs, not a problem. My husband loved his pan seared New York strip. But I did not like the pork and pumpkin ravioli at all. The pork was so salty I could not eat it, and the sauce appeared to be mostly melted butter. There were some lovely vegetables mixed in, but I had given up on the dish by then. Rather egregious for a restaurant this expensive, the waitress did not quote prices for the specials. The wine pours were quite short, and no kind of bread or nibble was provided at the beginning. For these prices, I expect a near-perfect experience, and this definitely was not. I simply did not feel like they were trying.

“Excellent food, poor service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014

A newspaper review had led us to try this restaurant. The review was correct and the food was delicious. The servings were quite large but delicious combinations of flavor. The service was quite slow and the waitress did not remember to serve the ordered drinks but managed to remember to put them on the bill.
