“The Best of Hawaiiana!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

Wow! Where else can you get papayas at 6 for $1.00? A beautiful tropical flower arrangement for about $5.00 (they last forever-why not buy one for your cabin on your cruise ship)? You can also find fresh fruits, veggies, flowers and plants - all grown locally. There's precooked food & sweets, as well as arts, crafts and souvenirs all at a very low price. They are only open on Wed. & Sat. until 2:00pm, so plan ahead. This is a place to truly enjoy local culture and shop for a bargain!

“Feel the Local Scene”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

The farmers market is a lot of fun and a must to experience. Lots of wonderful produce, organic or not, good coffee, goat's cheese, lunch specials, speical juices, body care, arts, crafts, and much more. It is a great way to get a feel for this area. Wed. & Sat. is the time to go. It does get a bit crowded so go early to get a parking spot.

“Meet The Locals Here For Produce & Crafts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

We had friends with us on this trip and decided to visit some old favorites on the Hilo side and it was fun for us to revisit sights we hadn't seen in years. We visited on an overcast Sunday and were very pleased with the good showing of local vendors ('though better on Saturdays). This is a terrific spot to pick up local crafts for friends & family, fresh produce and fresh cut flowers for your vacation rental (no matter where we stay, we always feel fresh flowers add a special touch to our accomodations...) There is loads of parking within the area and all the stalls are covered to provide a comfortable shopping experience from the sun (and occasional rain shower). What a great way to interact with the local residents.

“Don't miss if you want to experience the exotic.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

If this were a movie, it might be called "Hippies vs. Durians". Fun place to people watch and find fruits that you won't see many other places. But when the sun hits the durians, you start to get that smell and ....

We picked up Mamey Sapotes, Soursops, Star Fruit, Cuban Red bananas, and Strawberry Papayas as well as feasting on breakfast items such as rice noodles.

It was a long drive from the West Coast resorts, but worth it.

“Terrific fresh stuff at great prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

Get everything you need for a great supper. Very inexpensive papayas and stir fry fixings. Also some fancier things like desserts and chèvre. Friendly atmosphere. Terrific photo ops. I frequented it daily while staying in Hilo.
