We go here all the time. Especially for lunch. We always have the same things. Mine is the tonkatsu, or pork katsu with salad the house miso dressing is to die for. Bring your own beer. Make a reservation for dinner.
We've been to every Japanese restaurant in town and Miyo's aka "sticky table" is about the best. My family loves their combo plates and tempura shrimp & veggies (their batter is light compared to others). **Sticky table note: eatery sits at the waters' edge & the place tends to get a lot of moisture on their table tops.
Other favorites includes deep fried oysters; chicken curry, hot or cold udon or somen noodle, etc. We also LOVE the side salad and japanese pickled cabbage. Great live piano music on certaIn nights. We wish they had a great dark meat teri-chicken; I believe they offer sesame chicken instead (not great, my opinion).
We're excited to go to their new location which is expected to open soon.

We found this place courtesy of Trip Advisor and we're glad we didn't discount it after having a look at it from the outside. It looked like no one was home. We arrived a few minutes before they opened but they gladly seated us and didn't think bad of us (we hope). We ordered our meals and they took no time to come out to us at all. As we sat there we noticed the place filled up with locals in no time. I don't think there were any other tourists there except for us.
Good, simple, Japanese food in a good local setting. It didn't bother me that the tables and chairs were plastic - the food was great and that is what we went for. The view over the lake isn't so bad either.
This Japanese restaurant is tucked away behind the pond, but all the locals seem to have found it! You may be seated at a plastic folding table in a plastic lawn chair, but you will have a lovely view of Waiakea Pond. (We saw nene geese!) The arrived quickly and was delicious: scallops don, ahi tempura, sesame chicken with sashimi...mmm! Prices were reasonable for the food quality. They dont serve alcohol, but people seemed to bring in six-packs from the weird karaoke bar next door. Get a reservation. Hope you find it!
We went there for our anniversary. You end up sharing a table because it is so crowded, we were just happy to sit! but the food for the price is a bargain, and great!
