We should have stuck to burgers and fries, but how were we to know that this might be the only restaurant in the entire Hawaiian Island chain that doesn't know how to cook fish. We took our Chinese visitors here and several other places on the Big Isle. Except for one drive in fast food joint, this was sadly the worst.
They did do fine with the burgers, but some of us read the menu and ordered ahi dishes. All decent restaurants in Hawaii serve local ahi, not imported frozen from Asia. We couldn't tell if it had been frozen or not because the fish was overcooked and dry. Two of us made the mistake of ordering ahi and if we ever go back, which is doubtful, we'll stick to beer and burgers.
And the waitress messed up the orders.
So go watch a game and have fun, but unless you are into burgers, for lunch I'd head down to Ma'ona lunch counter, a little place next to Ruben's by the market that has burgers, thai, seafood, and shaved ice.
