“Nice atmosphere and local feel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

We met a freind here last July (a local) and she told us it was a gem. BOY WAS SHE RIGHT! I loved the variety, professional service, and fish selection. Right in Hilo town I recommend this place. Medium to medium higher prices, however worth it. Very personable staff.

“Classy marvelous gluten free lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2014

Our server, Shaun, was wonderful and helped provide a delicious, fresh, gluten free and allergy free meal for myself and my 11 year old son. My son had a mushroom risotto that was modified with the catch of the day. He finished with a mango sorbet. I had a tasty modified Chicken Lolla Rosa salad with a delicious recommended vinaigrette substitution. The ambiance is a nice mix of sophisticated yet casual. One of our favorite restaurants on the island.

“You need to dine here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

Had dinner here the other night. We were promptly seated at 7:00pm for our 7:00pm reservation. We ordered a shrimp nacho appetizer which was very delicious. We were not too hungry, so we ordered pizzas for dinner. Very delicious pizzas. The service was outstanding! Although the place was packed with tourists and locals, we received our appetizer and pizzas in reasonable time. I actually thought the pizzas were going to take longer to prepare.

Broad menu selection, reasonable prices, delicious meals, fun and relaxing atmosphere, friendly excellent service and cloth napkins. I have dined here before and dine here again. This is my favorite Hilo restaurant. You need to dine here!

“Enjoyed our Easter lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014 via mobile

Lunch in Hilo on Easter Sunday. After a leisurely drive from Kona, we had lunch at Cafe Pesto. Started with the rosemary Gorgonzola foccachio - yum! Accompanied this with a very nice glass of J Pinot Gris.

For lunch I asked the waiter for his recommendation between the special shepherds pie and the chicken rissotto. He recommended the rissotto and he was right. Chicken was moist and the rissotto was cooked perfectly. My husband had the southwestern calzone which he definitely enjoyed - chicken with onion, mozzarella cheese and chipotle BBQ sauce.

We finished our lunch with an apple macadamia crisp hot from the oven which was just perfect.

Service was attentive but not intrusive. Waiter checked on ingredients for dessert since my husband has an egg allergy.

Next time we are on The Big Island, we will be back.

“both cafe pestos are great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2014

food and service are great at both café pestos, the other being on the west side of the island of Hawaii. While they are both known for their pizza their other entrees are excellent too. Fair value too. Desserts are heavenly
