I've had better sushi in Missouri. Being this close to the sea should make it easier to serve better sushi than you can get in St. Louis. Very plain restaurant and could use a cleaning as well as a remodel.

Everything I had heard was true: incredibly cheap, incredibly fast and incredibly tasty. I got the Hilo roll and Big Island roll and they both made me downright emotional. (My companion got simpler rolls and was less impressed, FWIW.)

Though the restaurant was clean and comfortable, the atmosphere was dive-y -- almost bleak -- but that seemed to be part of its charm. It didn't hurt my enjoyment of the sushi at all.

The nearby shops and waterfront make an excellent place to walk off any overstuffing.

If you go to Hilo and have any interest in Japanese food, you must visit Ocean Sushi. I wish I had had room for more!

I just returned from Japan and went to Ocean Sushi Deli for my "Japan fix". The bento box was really delicious. And the different specialty sushi rolls that they make are so tasty! Good value for what you get.
