My wife and I visited Hilo during july 2004, and our stay at Hale Kai was key in a great vacation. Ric and Maria are great hosts, more like friends than business owners. Their local knowledge and willingness to share it with us was great. The Breakfast was incredible, and the location outstanding. I can think of no bad points to our stay in their home. I know where I will stay on my next visit to the Big Island.

“Beautiful Sunrises”

We spent 4 nights at the Hale Kai and could not have been more pleased.
We stay at many B&B's and Ric and Maria have one of the best. The oceanview is impressive from the rooms and from the lanai where the excellent breakfast is served. There were many whale sightings.

The sunrise is spectacular.

The B&B is just north of Hilo and in very quiet neighborhood but only minutes to downtown.

Our only problem was that we didn't spend enough time on the big island. Next time we will stay at least 5 full days with Ric and Maria.
