“OK but nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

A short drive off the main road but not much to see except a couple of not to impressive waterfalls and some flora. Park and pay $5 per vehicle or park on the road outside and pay $1 per person.

“Easy walk and pretty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

Akaka Falls State Park is consider easy, save and pretty circle walk with many native plants that has 2 falls. Kahuna Falls 100 feet and Akaka Falls 442 feet within 3 minute distant or walk. The entire loops/trail just 10-15 minute only if you keep walk without stop to take a photo or enjoy the panorama of the forest one of the kind. $ 5/car to entrance there and make sure ask the receipt for that.

“Great view and smart set-up”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

We were quite pleased to find the trail loop that led to this falls, as we were expecting a difficult hike to see a waterfall like this. The trail is a concrete pathway with a few steps that is easy to walk, even if you have some mobility issues. It's a nice walk through the rain forest with great photo ops along the way.

“awesome & easy trails...and what a view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

Went with my 4 & 7 year old on the full trail loop - very manageable & some great views/photo ops. We saw lots of lizards, birds & even heard a couple wild pigs on the trail.

Plan to spend about an hour if you walk it (slowly & enjoy)...quick access to Akaka is only 10 min. round trip if you go the other direction on the trail.

Note - guy a the lot for parking fee (or you can risk parking on a small road up from the lot). There are lots of signs explaining the break ins & how they are not responsible for thefts. We parked in 'eye/ear' shot of the attendant & had no problems.

“Well worth the drive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

The falls are very dramatic and an up-close view is available by following a short paved trail. Note there are some steps so the path is not wheelchair accessible. However even the view from the parking area is worth the trip.
