“Great Location & Amazing Views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

Although the hotel is currently being renovated, it compensates with the great hospitality service. The hotel has a great location and the views from the rooms are breathtaking. There is nothing more relaxing than waking up and listen to the morning waves! The surroundings have plenty of dinning options and you have quick access to the main roads. I would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Higher the floor, better the view!

Dirty, light switches falling off the walls, doors that don't lock properly. Nice locations but desperately needs renovations badly. Staff were nice, got moved rooms, still problems, lucky it was only for one night

As i was booking online, i read that they have a free shuttle service to and from the airport. But when i ask the front desk agent about it, they said that dont have it. If they dont have a free shuttle service to/from the airport then they shuld take it off. Bt all in all everything was good.

We all know there are endless options for hotels, B&B's and condos as we travel, particularly in a visitor destination like Hawaii. The innate hospitality with which we were greeted during a recent stay at Hilo's Naniloa Hotel was awesome, from our first contact at the Front Desk to service personnel and management. THIS would be my primary reason for returning to such a lovely ocean-front property, enhanced by natural lava ponds and spectacular views from all angles. Renovation plans are underway but our room and public areas were neat, clean and accommodating. Love the loa rockers in the lobby facing the ocean - great way to start the day!

Room Tip: Any room facing the ocean reveals spectacular vistas including the morning sunrise.

How sad. You can look at this hotel and see that it was once grand. Not anymore. They say that they are upgrading. I dont think a poor paint job and a new sink in the bathroom is considered a reno. The rooms are like dorm rooms. The real sad thing is a major hotel chain bid to infuse over 33 million into this property but the bid went to a local Hawaiian that doesnt have the money. Do your research on this property. That being said...you get what you pay for and this was only a 100 bucks a night and we were only there for 2 nights, The plus ...there is a wonderful park within walking distance that was perfect for a morning stroll with a cup of coffee. I rated the service good as the women on the front desk were wonderful. The men not so much. However all the guys working on the reno were very nice and happy to tell you anything you wanted to know about the area. This isnt that bad if you are spending your day sightseeing and will only sleep here which is what we did. Anything else...maybe pitch a tent.

It has been a few decades since I last stayed at the Naniloa and because I had heard it had fallen on hard times. So I had not stayed there on my annual trip to Hilo. Aqua Hospitality started sending me promotions for the Naniloa with very enticing photos and with a little research foundd found that the Ocean View rooms are the remodeled rooms. Very friendly staff. Outstanding, huge, tile bathroom. Comfortable beds. Outstanding view. But while the hotel is getting things back in shape there are some inconveniences. You are told up front that there is only Wifi in the lobby area ( I could get a signal on my balcony) and that sheets are only changed every four days though mine were changed after three. Neither were issues for me since I was out photographing from before dawn until after sunset. I was very pleased and at $89/night for a view of Hilo Bay, it was a bargain!

Room Tip: Ocean View rooms are the remodeled rooms

A very nice hotel with all the standard amenities. A nice ocean side pool and beautiful sunsets across the bay. Room was well equipped and clean. Staff is friendly and efficient. No frills but a good location and standard hotel and at a great price. Hotel is being remodeled.

Room Tip: A great value.
