The Bay House B&B is the best ever!!!!
We have been staying there for 10 years, and wouldn't think of going anywhere else in Hilo.
The rooms are always imaculate, beautifully decorated and very comfortable!!!
The breakfasts are first rate, and the owners will accomidate any requests!!
And, oh, the owners!!! They are fantastic!! Not only are they warm and friendly, they are always looking for ways to help their clients out. As an example, this year at Merrie Monarch Festival time (the Olympics of Hula), everyone staying there got leis to wear to the preformance!! And they were special!!!
I can't reccomend this B&B highly enough!!! They more than go the extra mile!!!

Overall the Bay House was great, but for one thing -- we set up a nice picnic dinner to eat on our patio which overlooked the bay -- and suddenly swarms of flying bugs arrived. It may have been the time of night or time of year, and so I'm not blaming it on the Inn owners, but it really was quite incredible and was unfortunately the most memorable part of the stay.

Otherwise, the rooms were clean, nicely decorated and breakfast was delicious.

The location was very secluded, in fact we had a little trouble finding it.

I have to also admit that I felt it was a little on the pricey side, but I think compared to other places in Hilo it was probably the market rate or lower.

My spry mother and I recently spent seven days on the Big Island to celebrate her 88th birthday. After an intensive internet search for lodgings, Bay House Bed and Breakfast in Hilo appeared too welcoming to pass up. I was able to obtain a reservation for the entire stay.

What a happy choice! Our room (the harbor room) our daily breakfast, and our care exceeded everything we had imagined. The room and bathroom were spotless and remained so under Tina’s daily attention. Much to Mom’s delight, Tina remembered her birthday with wine and a birthday balloon.

The harbor room was beautifully furnished and opened on a private corner balcony providing ocean views on two sides. We spent considerable time on the balcony. In fact, not only did we eat our breakfasts there, on several evenings we chose it for bring-in dinner. We loved the bordering palms and other green, green trees and plants, the soft breezes, the ever present sound of waves lapping the shore, and the symphony of birds and frogs. We watched huge commercial and tourist ships passing by for berthing at Hilo. We marveled at the sheen of the moon on the harbor water.

We hope to stay at Bay House again and recommend it highly.

My husband and I just returned from Hawaii and a lovely stay at the Bay House B&B.

We only got to stay one night. We would have LOVED to stay longer, but there was no availability. One night is definitely worth it, but book early if you want to stay multiple nights.

The location of the Bay House is secluded and private, but very close to town, within easy walking distance: An excellent accommodation in the Hilo area and accessible to nearby sites such as Akaka Falls and Volcanoes National Park.

We stayed in the Bay Room - the views from the room and the patio were amazing, overlooking Hilo Bay. The healthy breakfast was perfect to enjoy on the patio while watching the surfers waiting to catch a wave and the cruise ships in the distance.

Tina, the hostess gave us a kind and generous welcome, which included a bottle of wine when she learned that we had just married. In addition, I also accidentally left my jacket (and keys) behind, which Tina promptly shipped to me in Chicago.
