My husband and I are vacationing on the Big Island. Tonight we had dinner in Hawi at a cute little restaurant called Sushi Rock. It was original sushi and was SOOO delicious. They use fresh caught local fish for the white fish and fresh ahi from here as well. They sold artwork to put money back into the community and served us beers from a Brewery in Hilo called Mehana. It's in downtown Hawi, the second green 2 story building on your left after you get into town. It is individually owned/operated by Rio Miceli and Peter Pomeranze. It is only open from 5-8 for dinner and has limited seating, Anita was a fabulous server, call for reservations.
We are staying at the Hilton Waikaloa Village and drove at sunset along the northwest coast highway up to Hawi, it was such a beautiful drive and wonderful end to our day. We watched the sun set all the way there (which is only about 25 minute drive) and had a great view of Maui's outline across the ocean.
Sushi Rock is a MUST if you are a sushi lover!!!
