My husband and our three children stayed here for four days in July. We absolutely loved this place. Beautiful view of the ocean, excellent hosts, great breakfasts--and a bed so comfortable we came home and purchased the same one for our own home! If you are looking for a serene place to relax away from the 'resort scene", then this is the place to stay. The snorkeling was excellent (that is why we came to South Kona) and very close by. We will definitely come back here on our next trip to the Big Island.

This is a very great place ..
Erin and Ken are too good host and we loved statyin at this place.
Also the Inn is located at a very nice place with ocean view. They have a great pool and you get a cool view of the ocean from the pool. You can watch the sunset from the Inn and it is so beautiful..
If you want to have a good vacation with a very good location, very good hosts, very good beaches nearby, everything is so nice here, I can't stop praising.

My husband and I just got back from our Honeymoon in Hawaii. We spent 7 nights on the Big Island, all 7 spent at the Luana Inn. The beginning of our trip got off to a rocky start when our flight was delayed two hours. We did not arrive in Kona until late at night. Erin and Ken were very understanding and left both of us a plate of food and some drinks in our fridge. This is just one of the many examples of Erin and Ken's acts of kindness and attention to detail.

Breakfast every morning was better than any restaurant we went to on the island. Most of the time we were so full from breakfast that we did not eat until dinnertime. The breakfasts included, eggs, egg dishes (quiches etc.), pancakes with fresh fruit in the batter, the best french toast I have ever had, fresh fruit, portuguese sausage, freshly baked breads (scones, muffins and brioche), and fresh juice and Kona coffee (which is available for purchase).

Our room was clean and comfortable and there was a great air conditioner for the nights if it ever got too hot. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and we made it a point to watch as many sunsets as we could. The pool and hot tub were well maintained and a great way to start or end our day. The grounds well beautiful and were only topped by the endless view of the ocean.

My only suggestion for future visitors is to allow yourselves enough time to travel to other sight-seeing destinations. There is usually a lot of traffic on highway 11. We did several activities such as a snorkel cruise, a submarine tour, surfing lessons, massages, etc. and to get to these locations you have to drive to the Kailua-Kona area, approximately 20-25 minutes North. This was our first trip to Hawaii and we wanted to do as much sightseeing as possible, but if we return, we aim for a more relaxing vacation. This Inn is perfect for both!

Eventually we had to leave and it was sad saying goodbye to Erin and Ken. We spent the next three days on Waikiki and our hotel made us miss the Luana in even more.

Overall, the Luana Inn was one of our favorite spots in Hawaii. We highly recommend it to anyone traveling to the area.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Luana Inn for 5 nights in June of 07. Let me start off by saying Erin and Ken are the best hosts. We were scheduled to arrive late to the Big Island so Erin and Ken recommended we get dinner before we check in at this great japanese restaurant close to the inn. The food was great! In fact, we found that all of Erin and Ken's recommendations turned out to be exactly as they described, which made our stay even more enjoyable.

Okay, so let me net these out:
-The rooms are simple and elegant, roomy and very clean.
-The breakfasts are exquisite; fresh breads, fruits, coffee; juice and speciality of the day. All this accompanied by great conversations with Erin, Ken and other guests.
-The facilities are great; clean pool and jacuzzi; great grill (we ended up using 3 nights while we watched the beautiful sunsets); boogie boards; coolers; washer and dryer etc.
-The location worked for us as well. The bay is close and perfect for seeing sea turtles, snorkeling, kayaking. Great beaches were close for laying out and boogie boarding. We were just far enough from town to avoid all the traffic and close enough to shopping, restaurants, etc.

Conclusion: the Luana Inn is one of the best values for your money if you want to relax, enjoy the diversity of the Big Island, and have a great experience at a B&B.

After the great hospitality and service provided by Erin and Ken, we are telling all our close friends and planning to go back next year!

Very nice hosts, great breakfast, nice pool, beautiful views of the bay and sunset. A fan would have been nice on hot nights since there is no central A/C. Otherwise, great overall. Would stay here again.
